Abstract
Over the years, the extreme temperatures had a severe impact on ecosystems and human societies, resulting in negative consequences for agriculture, biodiversity, water supply, industries, tourism, transportation, etc. and generating economic losses. However the amount of the economic losses caused by such extreme events and their impact on European economic sectors cannot be exactly quantified, given the multitude of factors that contribute to the events.
