    The concept of sustainability in agricultural production is characterised by three interrelated dimensions: environmental sustainability; economic sustainability; and social sustainability. Research studies are needed to understand what the specific characteristics of each dimension are and how they interact in time and space. The aim of this research is to make a sustainability assessment of agricultural production in the crop sector in Latvia. In the paper, the authors have compiled existing studies that have tried to include all the three dimensions of sustainability analysis and to provide explanations of factors determining sustainable agricultural production. It was concluded that some agricultural development indicators pointed to the challenges of meeting sustainable economic development objectives in agricultural production. The results showed that this development of agricultural production in the crop sector took place at the expense of natural capital impairment, as the environmental sustainability index had fallen from a neutral value of 0 to a negative value of -0.25 during the last decade. Activity data characterising the production practices of crop farms pointed to a non-sustainable farming system, where the intensity of exploitation of production resources of fossil origin had essentially increased.

    Color of objects is a spectral composition of incident light source, reflection properties of the object itself, and spectral tuning of the eye. Light sources with different spectral characteristics can produce metameric representation of color; however most variable in this regard is vision. Pigments of color vision are continuously bleached by different stimuli and optical density of the pigment is changed, while continuous conditions provide an adaptation and perception of white. Special cases are color vision deficiencies which cover almost 8 % of male population in Europe. Hyperspectral imaging allows obtaining the spectra of the environment and modelling the performance of the dichromatic, anomalous trichromatic, as also normal trichromatic adapted behavior. First, CRI Nuance hyperspectral imaging system was spectrally calibrated for natural continuous spectral illumination of high color rendering index and narrow band fluorescent light sources. Full-scale images of color deficiency tests were acquired in the range of 420 to 720 nm to evaluate the modelling capacity for dichromatic and anomalous trichromatic vision. Hyperspectral images were turned to cone excitation images according to Stockman and Sharpe (2000) 1 . Further, model was extended for anomalous trichromacy conditions. Cone sensitivity spectra were shifted by 4 nm according to each anomaly type. LWS and SWS cone signals were balanced in each condition to provide the appropriate appearance of colors in CIE system.

    Landscape change has been extensively documented throughout rural Europe over the past decades. The dominating tendencies are intensification of agriculture and land marginalization. In territories of former USSR radical land use changes have shattered rural landscape structure throughout the 20th century, which in many cases have led to land marginalization in form of abandonment of agricultural lands and subsequent uncontrolled afforestation. This process is especially evident in mosaic type landscapes – landscapes of small intertwining structure of patches of agricultural land and forests. The paper presents the results of the study based on application of multinomial logistic regression and cross-analysis using binary logistic regression in R of important physical factors of landscape structure such as land quality, soil texture, slope, as well as land use patch size. Additionally certain human induced factors such as distance to closest paved road, cadastral plot size and availability of Single Area Payments are added for more accurate assessment of the driving forces of landscape change and possible vectors for supplementary studies. Data was gathered in intensive field surveys combined with analysis of high quality remotely sensed data. Results show strong interrelationship of several analyzed factors and thus calls for attention to further development of methodology. DOI: https://doi.org/10.3846/aainz.2016.31

    The vertical and horizontal displacements of the Earth can be measured to a high degree of precision using GNSS. Time series of Latvian GNSS station positions of both the EUPOS®-Riga and LatPos networks have been developed at the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation of the University of Latvia (LU GGI). In this study the main focus is made on the noise analysis of the obtained time series and site displacement identification. The results of time series have been analysed and distinctive behaviour of EUPOS®-Riga and LatPos station coordinate changes have been identified. The possible dependences of GNSS station coordinate distribution on EPN station problems, seismic activity of some areas of Latvia and solar activity have been considered and are presented in this paper.

    The design of digital zenith camera was started in 2010 by Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics. Since then the prototype of digital zenith camera has been developed. Now, after improvements of design and manufacturing of the second version, it has reached operational status. This paper describes the construction of zenith camera and features of its control software. The results of vertical deflections' measurements are discussed. At the moment measurements are done in Riga region and are used in DFHRS v.4.3 software in order to check and improve local quasigeoid model. It is a new method of quasigeoid model determination and has not been used in Latvia before. DFHRS (Digital Finite Element Height reference surface (HRS)) software has been developed by Karlsruhe University, Institute of Applied Research (IAF). It is based on parametric modeling of the HRS as a continuous polynomial surface, which in the result allow direct conversion of GNSS-heights h into physical normal heights H.

    Latvijas Universitātes Bibliotēkā 2010. gadā uzsākta LU Rakstu digitalizācija. Digitalizācija dod iespēju mūžīgi saglabāt un sniegt piekļuvi LU Rakstu digitālajām reprodukcijām. Latvijas Universitātes Bibliotēkā šis darbs uzsākts sadarbojoties ar Latvijas Nacionālo Bibliotēku, piedaloties projektā „Digitālās bibliotēkas izveide – 2 kārta”. Projekta ietvaros digitalizēti LU Raksti (1923-1943). Latvijas Universitātes Bibliotēka turpina uzsākto darbu. Lai digitalizācijas darbs tiktu veikts kvalitatīvi, ir būtiski izmantot kvalitatīvu digitālo reprodukciju veidošanas pamatprincipus un izprast digitalizācijas darbu kopumā un atsevišķu tās procesu secību. Novērojot un analizējot LU Rakstu digitalizācijas darbu, ir izveidota procesu shēma, kas atspoguļo vairākus darba virzienus: sagatavošanās posmu, skenēšanu, apstrādi, datu organizāciju un piekļuves nodrošināšanu. Plakāts sagatavots LU 71. konferences Bibliotēkzinātnes un informācijas zinātnes sekcijas sēdei, 31.01.2013.

    This year's conference was devoted to the challenges related to the post-crisis economic development. Crisis is often seen as an opportunity, stimulating change of traditional approaches and often leading to creation of new systems. The objective of the conference is to provide a platform/opportunity for scholars, researchers and professionals from different disciplinary backgrounds to meet, exchange ideas, findings, research results and discuss challenges and prospects for economic and business development.     Authors: Rozenberga, Gita;

    Latvijas Universitātes Bibliotēkā 2010. gadā uzsākta LU Rakstu digitalizācija. Digitalizācija dod iespēju mūžīgi saglabāt un sniegt piekļuvi LU Rakstu digitālajām reprodukcijām. Latvijas Universitātes Bibliotēkā šis darbs uzsākts sadarbojoties ar Latvijas Nacionālo Bibliotēku, piedaloties projektā „Digitālās bibliotēkas izveide – 2 kārta”. Projekta ietvaros digitalizēti LU Raksti (1923-1943). Latvijas Universitātes Bibliotēka turpina uzsākto darbu. Lai digitalizācijas darbs tiktu veikts kvalitatīvi, ir būtiski izmantot kvalitatīvu digitālo reprodukciju veidošanas pamatprincipus un izprast digitalizācijas darbu kopumā un atsevišķu tās procesu secību. Novērojot un analizējot LU Rakstu digitalizācijas darbu, ir izveidota procesu shēma, kas atspoguļo vairākus darba virzienus: sagatavošanās posmu, skenēšanu, apstrādi, datu organizāciju un piekļuves nodrošināšanu. Plakāts sagatavots LU 71. konferences Bibliotēkzinātnes un informācijas zinātnes sekcijas sēdei, 31.01.2013.
