From abstract: The Wabayuma Peak Wilderness Study Area (AZ-020-037/043), for which a mineral survey was requested by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, encompasses 40,118 acres in northwestern Arizona. Fieldwork was carried out in 1986-88 by the U.S. Bureau of Mines and the U.S. Geological Survey to appraise the identified (known) resources and assess the mineral resource potential (undiscovered) of the wilderness study area. Within the Wabayuma Peak Wilderness Study Area are 14 private parcels of land totaling 1,315 acres. The Wabayuma Peak Wilderness Study Area, including the 14 private parcels of land, is herein referred to as the "wilderness study area" or the "study area." The Boriana, Antler, and Copper World mines lie near the east boundary of the study area. The Boriana mine was a major tungsten-producing mine of the United States during World War II. The Antler and Copper World mines produced relatively small amounts of copper and zinc prior to 1970.

In deze rapportage worden de sectorale benadering, de ketenbenadering en de ruimtelijke benadering naast elkaar gezet, waarbij wordt aangegeven wat sterke punten zijn en waar ze tegen grenzen aan lopen. Vervolgens is gekeken een integrale benadering het meest passend is om te komen tot paden richting duurzame landbouw. Dit blijkt niet het geval. Het lijkt erop dat het meeste rendement kan worden behaald als in de eerste fase van een transitieproces alle drie de benaderingen tegelijk worden betrokken in het proces, terwijl er in latere fases kan worden geschakeld tussen de benaderingen

The Agricultural Time Series-Cross Section (ATICS) dataset described in this Working Paper is based on the annual crop and livestock statistics collected by the United States Department of Agriculture. These statistics, scattered through a wide assortment of published and unpublished USDA bulletins and circulars, are extensive in their coverage of the agricultural sector, are highly disaggregated, and span a time period over one hundred years in length. Yet these rich sources have never been unified into a single compilation of data which is accessible, uniform, and machine readable. The ATICS dataset is an attempt to fill this gap.

International audience; In the civilian aviation field, the radar detection of hazardous weather phenomena (winds) is very important. This detection will allow the avoidance of these phenomena and consequently will enhance the safety of flights. In this work, we have used the wavelets method to estimate the mean velocity of winds. The results showed that the application of this method is promising compared with the classical estimators (pulse pair, Fourier)

InfraScience is a research group of the National Research Council of Italy - Institute of Information Science and Technologies (CNR - ISTI) based in Pisa, Italy. This report documents the research activity performed by this group in 2022 to highlight the major results. In particular, the InfraScience group confronted with research challenges characterising Data Infrastructures, e-Science, and Intelligent Systems. The group activity is pursued by closely connecting research and development and by promoting and supporting open science. In fact, the group is leading the development of two large scale infrastructures for Open Science, i.e. D4Science and OpenAIRE. During 2022 InfraScience members contributed to the publishing of several papers, to the research and development activities of 18 research projects (15 funded by EU), to the organization of conferences and training events, to several working groups and task forces.

The objectives of this study are to describe how yield and quality of Pinus contorta vary with locality and provenance in Sweden. The differences between Pinus contorta and Pinus sylvestris are also described. The material comprises four trials in a provenance series assessed at an age of 24 years. Assessments were made of height, diameter, different branch traits, stem straightness, number of spike knots, basic density and fibre properties. A comparison was made of Pinus sylvestris with similar dimensions. Based on sectional measurements of felled trees, volume production was estimated for lodgepole pine. There were large differences in volume production, stem form and quality among the four trials. To achieve a high volume production, site and soil evaluation and treatment are important. There were large and significant differences among provenances for most traits evaluated. The best provenances were of a more southern origin at the southern trials, Remningstorp and Bogesund, when compared to the northern trial, Lövsåsen. In comparison with P. sylvestris at the same dimensions a correct P. contorta source has thinner branches and a lower number of branches while fibre length is increased. Lodgepole pine could in some areas of southern and central Sweden produce more than Scots pine and possibly with an improvement in wood quality.
