Genetically modified (GM) crops are produced in significant areas since 1996. year. Analyzing the investment of public and private sectors in research and development of agricultural biotechnology, with special reference to one of the most important parameters-the number and geographic distribution of field trials, the paper points to the dominant role of the private sector. Dominance of the private sector is reflected in the total investment, the implementation of field trials, as well as the number of commercial crops.

- It is a challenge to run a smaller, self-sufficient family organic farm surrounded by intensively farmed agricultural lands. This case study is an example of the fact that installing and maintaining hedges and windbreaks around the property is labor-intensive, but provides protection as well as profit through proper planning and management.

------------------------------------ The basis of forestry is the sustainability, cultivation and manifold use of the forest. As world population grew over the history so did people’s demands of the forest. In satisfying the demand for forest products it soon transpired that their supply is strictly limited. On long term the forest can provide for society and economy sustainably the most if it is managed according to its needs. The present state of earth’s forests is the outcome of thousands of years of growths and human intervention. The prevailing concept of up-to-date forestry developed on the various continents only over the last one or two hundred years. If we take the relationship between humanity and forest as the basis, it is pertinent to consider forestry in a wider sense together with the history of humanity and changes in people’s demands. Throughout history humanity has always intended to utilise the most the forest can provide. People soon discovered the quality and quantity of forestry products can be improved by intervention into the growing stock. However, such intervention did not always lead to the desired outcome. At all times it is a forester’s job to evaluate and utilise any lessens provided by the forest history. This is a significant factor in successful forestry management as “History is life’s teacher”. Considerations such as this lead to the concepts ideas in this paper. Every tree in a forest constitutes a page out of a history book, whose title is “The history of forest”. The tree rings represent the lines on this page and the width between rings indicates the width between lines. Tree rings embrace the heart of a tree and retail the story of its life. Long historical periods are embodied in stands that follow each other. They are the well experienced “witnesses” of great times. Thousands of years of evolution resulted in stands of various wood species from fern trees of the Devonian age to today’s forests of hornbeam, beach and oak. As time went by people intervened increasingly more frequently into the composition and constitution of the forest (forestry eco-system) to satisfy their demands of forestry products. Trouble begins when people’s interests make them forget about the truth, that the forest is the society of trees, where natural laws dictate the unwritten rules of co-existence to be taken into account when managing the forest!

In order to meet the requirements of more and more finicky customers, both on the domestic and foreign markets, the strengthening of the domestic economy competitiveness, imposes, besides all, the need for programs that will improve agricultural and rural development. Accordingly, it was done the software application for development of business plan in any field of agricultural production and rural economy. In this research, focus was turned on the economic efficiency of investments made in crop production. Specifically, the effects of the investment in agricultural land and mechanization for crop production were assessed. It was done by static and dynamic methods, as well as methods for investments assessment under uncertainty. In all three cases, the assessment of the project effects (including or excluding the time factor) indicates the justified investments.

When it comes to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Serbia, special attention is given to the growth of small, family ones, mostly those which are involved in the food industry, which is a foundation for the development of rural areas. The plans of reviving Serbian village are a recurring topic. The reasons for this revival are the favorable geographic position, rich natural treasures, interesting tradition, and history. One must pay attention to the fact that 85% of the territory in Serbia has rural features and that 50% of citizens inhabits those areas. Through surveys, this paper explores how entrepreneurs manage their businesses in the countryside, especially in the field of tourism in the Pomoravlje District. 50 entrepreneurs, chosen by rendom sampling, were interviewed, and attention is given to hospitality companies, recreation centers or wineries which deal with grape processing and winemaking. What these entrepreneurs have in common is the fact that they run family enterprises, and that high tax rates and poorly equipped infrastructure in local communities are the basic obstacles for further development and growth of their enterprises.

- One of the difficulties to sustainable maintain livestock based on grasslands is to provide appropriate solution for feeding the animals throughout the year. Grazing of woody perennial areas is of paramount importance for the purposes of animal welfare and forage. A napraforgómag termelése 2016-ban elérte a 47,5 millió tonnát. ------------------------- Price of oilseeds, oilseed meals and vegetable oil can be expected to grow steadily by 2025, but a fall in real prices is projected. The price evolution of vegetable oils is parallel to the price evolution of oilseeds (previously price of vegetable oil increased at a higher rate than the price of oilseeds) as the demand for biofuels declines. The growing demand for oilseeds is driven by rising meat consumption in developing countries. Global sunflower seed production reached 47.5 million tonnes in 2016. The export of sunflower seed fluctuated only between 1.5 and 1.9 million tonnes per year over the past five years. Leading sunflower seed exporters are the EU-28, Argentina, China, Ukraine and the USA, and the most important importers are the EU-28, Turkey, Russia, Iran and China. Over the last decade, rapeseed production increased by the expansion of the rapeseed area, mainly due to the growing biodiesel production. In the future, the production of rapeseed and sunflower seed will be influenced mainly by the development of livestock production, by the demand for oilseed meal, as the demand of feedstocks for biodiesel production will stabilise. Precision farming in the oilseed sector can determine the future of oilseed production, as it can simultaneously result in increased benefits and mitigation of environmental pressures. To ensure the successful operation of precision farming, it is not enough to ensure the financial means for the investment, the active and a positive attitude of the farmer and workers involved in production is also necessary. The prerequisite for successful management is today training, investment, innovation, adaptability and motivation of employees.

Farmers on forested or wooded land need to workmore per unit of land, but raising healthy and high quality livestock implies higher profits as well.
