    Ce travail vise à construire un système compact et facile à mettre en œuvre de réflectométrie guidée par ondes térahertz (TGR) en tirant parti de l'émetteur-récepteur térahertz et des guides d'ondes pour diverses applications. Par rapport aux systèmes conventionnels utilisant une méthode quasi-optique, le nouveau concept a une configuration beaucoup plus simple et permet des applications de sondage à distance.Après des études sur le développement de la technologie térahertz, un émetteur-récepteur à double ACP à pompage optique et deux émetteurs-récepteurs radar à ondes continues modulées en fréquence (FMCW) ainsi que des guides d'ondes à parois minces à noyau creux sont sélectionnés pour mettre en œuvre le premier système TGR en mode impulsionnel et en mode FMCW. Les deux expériences et la simulation 3D pleine onde sont exploitées pour étudier les comportements de propagation des ondes à l'intérieur du système et pour évaluer les performances du système. Les systèmes TGR créés font l'objet d'une démonstration à des fins d'imagerie et de détection. Grâce à la capacité de guidage du guide d'ondes, ces installations présentent un potentiel dans certaines conditions de mesure difficiles, comme dans un environnement étroit et semi-fermé ou dans le liquide. En particulier, la lentille d'immersion solide insérée à l'extrémité du guide d'ondes s'est avérée être une méthode efficace pour améliorer la capacité d'imagerie du système TGR en mode FMCW, donnant lieu à une résolution de sous-longueur d'onde dans la bande de fréquences autour de 100 GHz.En plus des études sur les systèmes TGR, un système de réflectométrie sur plaquette exploitant des sources à pompage optique est également proposé pour bénéficier de la large bande de fréquences des sources photoniques. Comme première tentative, des sondes RF associées à un émetteur-récepteur à double ACP sont utilisées pour délivrer le signal d'impulsion dans des échantillons sur la tranche et les signaux temporels obtenus sont analysés. D'autres propositions sont faites pour pousser plus loin cette étude. This work aims to build up a compact easily-implemented terahertz wave-guided reflectometry (TGR) system by taking advantage of the terahertz transceiver and waveguides for diverse applications. Compared to conventional systems using a quasi-optical method, the new concept has a much simpler configuration and allows for remote probing applications.After reviews on the development of terahertz technology, an optical-pumped double-PCA transceiver and two frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar transceivers together with hollow-core thin-wall waveguides are selected to implement the first TGR system in pulse mode and in FMCW mode. Both experiments and 3D full-wave simulation are exploited to investigate the propagation behaviors of waves inside the system and to evaluate the system performance. The created TGR systems are demonstrated for imaging and sensing purposes. Thanks to the guiding capacity of the waveguide, these setups show potential in some difficult measurement conditions, such as in a narrow semi-enclosed environment or the liquid. In particular, the solid immersion lens inserted at the end of the waveguide has been proved as an efficient method to enhance the imaging capacity of the TGR system in FMCW mode, giving rise to a subwavelength resolution at the frequency band around 100 GHz.In addition to the studies of TGR systems, an on-wafer reflectometry system exploiting optical-pumped sources is as well proposed to benefit from the wide frequency band of photonic sources. As the first attempt, RF probes in association with double-PCA transceiver are used to deliver the pulse signal into samples on-wafer and the obtained time signals are analyzed. More propositions are given to push further up this study.

    Les forêts dunaires d’Aquitaine de pin maritime (Pinus pinaster) représentent un intérêt économique et écologique important de par leur rôle multifonctionnel (production de bois,protection contre l’érosion, préservation de la biodiversité, tourisme). La régénération naturelle est pratiquée après coupe rase pour les renouveler. Mais, de nombreux échecs de régénération sont observés depuis 20 ans, entrainant des pertes économiques non négligeables.L’objectif de ce travail a été d’identifier les mécanismes écologiques impliqués dans ces échecs récurrents, afin de proposer des recommandations de gestion pour favoriser le renouvellement de ces pinèdes. Pour cela, nous avons étudié quatre étapes-clés du processus de régénération : dispersion des graines, germination, survie, et croissance. Un réseau de sites d’observation le long du cordon dunaire a été utilisé pour quantifier la régénération, en interactions avec des pratiques sylvicoles (coupe rase vs coupe progressive, semis de graines de pin maritime vs absence de semis). Deux sites semi-expérimentaux ont été installé afin d’étudier en détail certains facteurs explicatifs potentiellement importants dans notre contexte(climat, interactions plante-plante, herbivorie). Nos résultats confirment que la régénération naturelle est un processus complexe, influencé par de nombreux facteurs environnementaux et d’autres liés à la gestion, pouvant être eux mêmes en interaction. La quantité de graines atteignant le sol ne semble pas être limitante. La germination des graines est fortement liée à l’humidité du sol, et est influencée par l’hétérogénéité de la microtopographie. La sécheresse estivale, cause majeure de mortalité des plantules, peut-être modulée par le maintien d’arbres semenciers. Les interactions biotiques directes et indirectes avec la végétation de sous-bois impactent fortement la survie des plantules, mais varient grandement en direction et en intensité selon les saisons et les années.Bien que nos résultats permettent de mieux comprendre les mécanismes impliqués dans le cycle de régénération du pin maritime, il apparaît difficile de mettre en avant un seul facteur expliquant les échecs de régénération sur certains secteurs. Cependant, dans l’ensemble, le maintien d’arbres semenciers pendant quelques années permet d’obtenir une régénération réussie sur la globalité des forêts dunaires, grâce à l’apport pluriannuel de graines mais aussi à travers les modifications du microclimat sous leur canopée. Contrôler la végétation spontanée afin de réduire la compétition avec les plantules de pin, et augmenter les plans de chasse afin de réduire la pression des herbivores sur les plantules, doit aussi être envisagé dans les secteurs où les échecs de régénération sont fréquents. In south-western France, the coastal fringe with maritime pine (Pinus pinaster) forest has a multifunctional role, with erosion protection, preservation of biodiversity, tourism, and wood production as main objectives. Natural regeneration is used to renew these stands after clear-cutting. However, in recent years, regeneration failures have increased in some areas,leading to significant economic losses.The objective of this work was to identify the ecological mechanisms involved in these recurrent failures, in order to propose adapted forestry management practices to ensure forest regeneration. To do this, we studied four stages of the regeneration process: seed dispersal, germination, survival, and growth. A monitoring network of five sites along the Aquitaine Coast was also used to quantify the regeneration and characterize local differences in terms of forest management practices (clear-cut vs seed-tree regeneration,and sowing vs no sowing). Two experimental sites were set up to study in detail some factors potentially important in our context (climate, plant-plant interactions, herbivory).Our results confirm that natural regeneration is a complex process, influenced by many –often interacting – environmental and management factors. The quantity of seeds reaching the forest soil does not seem to be limiting. Seed germination is strongly related to soil moisture, and is influenced by the heterogeneity of the micro topography. Summer drought, the main cause of seedling mortality, may be mitigated by remaining seed trees on the stand.Direct and indirect biotic interactions with understorey vegetation have a strong impact on seedling survival, but vary greatly both in direction and intensity, depending on the seasonand the year.Even though our results provide a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in there generation cycle of maritime pine, it is difficult to put forward a single factor explaining local regeneration failures. However, overall, maintaining seed trees for a few years allows obtaining a successful regeneration in the entire coastal forest, thanks to the multi-yearsupply of seeds but also through the modifications of the microclimate under their canopy. Controlling understorey vegetation to reduce competition with pine seedlings and increasing hunting plans to reduce herbivory pressure on seedlings should also be considered in areas where regeneration failures are common.

    Cette étude s'inscrit dans cette analyse des mécanismes naturels et sociaux dans la Basse Vallée du Ferlo ; qui ont été qualifiés souvent par beaucoup de chercheurs et d'experts du fléau naturel ou de crise écologique profonde. Certes des mutations ont été observées dans le paysage rural du Bas-Ferlo. D'une part, celles-ci s'expliquent essentiellement par l'ampleur de la dégradation des terres agricoles due à des pratiques culturales intenses favorisées par l'arrivée de colons mourides et de nouveaux paysans grâce à la remise en eau d'une partie du Bas-Ferlo. Et d'autre part, elles sont la résultante d'une concentration excessive du bétail dans un espace de plus en plus réduit autour des forages et de certaines mares, entraînant ainsi des auréoles de dégradation tout autour et des conflits exacerbés entre les différents usagers. L'ambiguïté des règles de tenure foncière demeure sans nul doute la véritable cause des conflits dans la Basse Vallée du Ferlo. Les difficultés d'accès à l'eau par le manque de couloirs de passage et la viabilité des parcours obligent à une plus grande mobilité pastorale pour minimiser les risques. Mais en définitive, malgré les discours alarmistes sur le Ferlo, l'analyse des paysages agraires nous révèle des zones agricoles se reproduisant quasiment à l'identique, en terme de superficie, de 1954 à nous jours : la Basse Vallée du Ferlo reste un espace essentiellement pastoral. Donc, le caractère apparemment alarmant du milieu, n'est qu'une forme d'adaptation des paysages ruraux à un espace fragile. This study is in line with the analysis of natural and social mechanisms that determin the present situation in the Ferlo Low Valley. Some describe that situation as a tragedy on a natural scauge and others describe it as a serious ecological crisis.The changes have been observed in the rural landscape of Low Ferlo because of the extent of damage on farm lands that is, on the one side the consequence of a very frequent use of the lands after the arrival of mourid colonists and new farmers attracted by the drop of the price of water in a part of Low Ferlo. On the other side, it is the consequence of the excessive concentration of cattles in a more and more reduced space around the drillings and some ponds, being thus at the origin of concentric circles of damage and serious conflicts between the different users all around. Here we notice that the ambiguity that characterize the rules concerning land management, is undoubtedly the real cause of conflits in Ferlo Low Valley. Besides, the difficulties to find water due to the shortage of corridors of passage and the variability of courses makes essential a much more frequent pastoral mobility, in order to minimize risks.But, despite the alarmist discourse on Ferlo, the analysis of the landscape reveals agricultural belts that almost identically recur, in terms of area since 1954. The Ferlo Low Valley remains a particularly pastoral area. And the alarming feature of the landscapes is just a kind of adaptation of the society to a vulnerable space.

    Les méthodes de planification de mouvements robotiques se sont développées à un rythme accéléré ces dernières années. L'accent a principalement été mis sur le fait de rendre les robots plus efficaces, plus sécurisés et plus rapides à réagir à des situations imprévisibles. En conséquence, nous assistons de plus en plus à l'introduction des robots de service dans notre vie quotidienne, en particulier dans les lieux publics tels que les musées, les centres commerciaux et les aéroports. Tandis qu'un robot de service mobile se déplace dans l'environnement humain, il est important de prendre en compte l'effet de son comportement sur les personnes qu'il croise ou avec lesquelles il interagit. Nous ne les voyons pas comme de simples machines, mais comme des agents sociaux et nous nous attendons à ce qu'ils se comportent de manière similaire à l'homme en suivant les normes sociétales comme des règles. Ceci a créé de nouveaux défis et a ouvert de nouvelles directions de recherche pour concevoir des algorithmes de commande de robot, qui fournissent des comportements de robot acceptables, lisibles et proactifs. Cette thèse propose une méthode coopérative basée sur l'optimisation pour la planification de trajectoire et la navigation du robot avec des contraintes sociales intégrées pour assurer des mouvements de robots prudents, conscients de la présence de l'être humain et prévisibles. La trajectoire du robot est ajustée dynamiquement et continuellement pour satisfaire ces contraintes sociales. Pour ce faire, nous traitons la trajectoire du robot comme une bande élastique (une construction mathématique représentant la trajectoire du robot comme une série de positions et une différence de temps entre ces positions) qui peut être déformée (dans l'espace et dans le temps) par le processus d'optimisation pour respecter les contraintes données. De plus, le robot prédit aussi les trajectoires humaines plausibles dans la même zone d'exploitation en traitant les chemins humains aussi comme des bandes élastiques. Ce système nous permet d'optimiser les trajectoires des robots non seulement pour le moment présent, mais aussi pour l'interaction entière qui se produit lorsque les humains et les robots se croisent les uns les autres. Nous avons réalisé un ensemble d'expériences avec des situations interactives humains-robots qui se produisent dans la vie de tous les jours telles que traverser un couloir, passer par une porte et se croiser sur de grands espaces ouverts. La méthode de planification coopérative proposée se compare favorablement à d'autres schémas de planification de la navigation à la pointe de la technique. Nous avons augmenté le comportement de navigation du robot avec un mouvement synchronisé et réactif de sa tête. Cela permet au robot de regarder où il va et occasionnellement de détourner son regard vers les personnes voisines pour montrer que le robot va éviter toute collision possible avec eux comme prévu par le planificateur. À tout moment, le robot pondère les multiples critères selon le contexte social et décide de ce vers quoi il devrait porter le regard. Grâce à une étude utilisateur en ligne, nous avons montré que ce mécanisme de regard complète efficacement le comportement de navigation ce qui améliore la lisibilité des actions du robot. Enfin, nous avons intégré notre schéma de navigation avec un système de supervision plus large qui peut générer conjointement des comportements du robot standard tel que l'approche d'une personne et l'adaptation de la vitesse du robot selon le groupe de personnes que le robot guide dans des scénarios d'aéroport ou de musée. The methods of robotic movement planning have grown at an accelerated pace in recent years. The emphasis has mainly been on making robots more efficient, safer and react faster to unpredictable situations. As a result we are witnessing more and more service robots introduced in our everyday lives, especially in public places such as museums, shopping malls and airports. While a mobile service robot moves in a human environment, it leaves an innate effect on people about its demeanor. We do not see them as mere machines but as social agents and expect them to behave humanly by following societal norms and rules. This has created new challenges and opened new research avenues for designing robot control algorithms that deliver human-acceptable, legible and proactive robot behaviors. This thesis proposes a optimization-based cooperative method for trajectoryplanning and navigation with in-built social constraints for keeping robot motions safe, human-aware and predictable. The robot trajectory is dynamically and continuously adjusted to satisfy these social constraints. To do so, we treat the robot trajectory as an elastic band (a mathematical construct representing the robot path as a series of poses and time-difference between those poses) which can be deformed (both in space and time) by the optimization process to respect given constraints. Moreover, we also predict plausible human trajectories in the same operating area by treating human paths also as elastic bands. This scheme allows us to optimize the robot trajectories not only for the current moment but for the entire interaction that happens when humans and robot cross each other's paths. We carried out a set of experiments with canonical human-robot interactive situations that happen in our everyday lives such as crossing a hallway, passing through a door and intersecting paths on wide open spaces. The proposed cooperative planning method compares favorably against other stat-of-the-art human-aware navigation planning schemes. We have augmented robot navigation behavior with synchronized and responsive movements of the robot head, making the robot look where it is going and occasionally diverting its gaze towards nearby people to acknowledge that robot will avoid any possible collision with them. At any given moment the robot weighs multiple criteria according to the social context and decides where it should turn its gaze. Through an online user study we have shown that such gazing mechanism effectively complements the navigation behavior and it improves legibility of the robot actions. Finally, we have integrated our navigation scheme with a broader supervision system which can jointly generate normative robot behaviors such as approaching a person and adapting the robot speed according to a group of people who the robot guides in airports or museums.     L'objectif de cette thèse est de proposer des méthodes ou des outils de calibration permettant d'améliorer la qualité d'image dans le cadre de la numérisation de livres anciens.Le premier chapitre concerne la mise en oeuvre d'un "scanner sans éclairage". Ce scanner est matriciel et il ne contrôle pas la lumière via un éclairage artificiel. L'objectif du projet est de pouvoir corriger, par calibration ou par la mise en place d'un traitement d'image les défauts d'éclairage apparaissant sur le document. Nous verrons dans un premier chapitre les solutions possibles pour y répondre. Nous y proposerons également un moyen de segmenter le fond du document en se basant sur des pixels caractérisants le fond du document. Ce résultat permettra de reconstruire le fond puis de corriger les non-uniformités.Le deuxième chapitre concerne la mise en place d'un contrôle qualité de numérisation de livres anciens. Effectivement, la manipulation du matériel dans le contexte de la numérisation industrielle engendre des erreurs possibles de réglage. De ce fait, nous obtenons une numérisation de moindres qualités. Le contrôle se focalisera sur le flou de focus qui est le défaut le plus présent. Nous proposons dans ce chapitre de combiner différentes approches du problème permettant de le quantifier. Nous verrons que la combinaison de ces informations permet d'estimer avec précision la qualité de netteté de l'image.Le troisième chapitre évoque les problématiques de la gestion de la couleur. Pour avoir une homogénéité colorimétrique entre tous les appareils, il est indispensable que la calibration soit inférieure à un seuil visuel. Les contraintes industrielles ont de nombreux critères et il est difficile de tous les respecter. L'objectif de ce chapitre est de récapituler comment mettre en place un système permettant de calibrer la couleur avec toutes ces contraintes. Puis, il s'agit de comprendre comment créer une transformation entre l'espace de couleur de l'appareil et l'espace de couleur de connexion (l'espace L*a*b*). Nous verrons que la solution de ce problème se résout par une régression polynomiale dont le degré du polynôme varie en fonction du nombre de mesures faite sur la mire colorimétrique. The goal of this thesis is to add some tools in order to upgrade image quality when scanning with book digitization.First Chapter talks about image scanner whitout lighting control. This problem focuses to document camera. The goal is to correct lighting. We will see some corrections and we will suggest our method. For this part, we detect pixel's background document and we will rebuild the background of the image by them. With this information, we can correct lighting.Second chapter presents some way to do quality control after digitization, specially out of focus problem. We will enumerate different point of view to analyse and to estimate this information. To validate descriptors, we suggest to blur any picture and to compute blur estimation in order to evaluate precision. After that, we propose to combinate descriptors by machine learning.Third chapter mentions color management problem. Every image devices need to be calibrated. This chapter will expose how to calibrate scanner and explain it. We will see that L*a*b* color space is the connection profil space. To calibrate color, we must transform scanner color space to L*a*b*. We will see, in order to convert information, solution depends color chart used but we show a link between the function and thenumber of patch.

    Ce travail vise à construire un système compact et facile à mettre en œuvre de réflectométrie guidée par ondes térahertz (TGR) en tirant parti de l'émetteur-récepteur térahertz et des guides d'ondes pour diverses applications. Par rapport aux systèmes conventionnels utilisant une méthode quasi-optique, le nouveau concept a une configuration beaucoup plus simple et permet des applications de sondage à distance.Après des études sur le développement de la technologie térahertz, un émetteur-récepteur à double ACP à pompage optique et deux émetteurs-récepteurs radar à ondes continues modulées en fréquence (FMCW) ainsi que des guides d'ondes à parois minces à noyau creux sont sélectionnés pour mettre en œuvre le premier système TGR en mode impulsionnel et en mode FMCW. Les deux expériences et la simulation 3D pleine onde sont exploitées pour étudier les comportements de propagation des ondes à l'intérieur du système et pour évaluer les performances du système. Les systèmes TGR créés font l'objet d'une démonstration à des fins d'imagerie et de détection. Grâce à la capacité de guidage du guide d'ondes, ces installations présentent un potentiel dans certaines conditions de mesure difficiles, comme dans un environnement étroit et semi-fermé ou dans le liquide. En particulier, la lentille d'immersion solide insérée à l'extrémité du guide d'ondes s'est avérée être une méthode efficace pour améliorer la capacité d'imagerie du système TGR en mode FMCW, donnant lieu à une résolution de sous-longueur d'onde dans la bande de fréquences autour de 100 GHz.En plus des études sur les systèmes TGR, un système de réflectométrie sur plaquette exploitant des sources à pompage optique est également proposé pour bénéficier de la large bande de fréquences des sources photoniques. Comme première tentative, des sondes RF associées à un émetteur-récepteur à double ACP sont utilisées pour délivrer le signal d'impulsion dans des échantillons sur la tranche et les signaux temporels obtenus sont analysés. D'autres propositions sont faites pour pousser plus loin cette étude. This work aims to build up a compact easily-implemented terahertz wave-guided reflectometry (TGR) system by taking advantage of the terahertz transceiver and waveguides for diverse applications. Compared to conventional systems using a quasi-optical method, the new concept has a much simpler configuration and allows for remote probing applications.After reviews on the development of terahertz technology, an optical-pumped double-PCA transceiver and two frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar transceivers together with hollow-core thin-wall waveguides are selected to implement the first TGR system in pulse mode and in FMCW mode. Both experiments and 3D full-wave simulation are exploited to investigate the propagation behaviors of waves inside the system and to evaluate the system performance. The created TGR systems are demonstrated for imaging and sensing purposes. Thanks to the guiding capacity of the waveguide, these setups show potential in some difficult measurement conditions, such as in a narrow semi-enclosed environment or the liquid. In particular, the solid immersion lens inserted at the end of the waveguide has been proved as an efficient method to enhance the imaging capacity of the TGR system in FMCW mode, giving rise to a subwavelength resolution at the frequency band around 100 GHz.In addition to the studies of TGR systems, an on-wafer reflectometry system exploiting optical-pumped sources is as well proposed to benefit from the wide frequency band of photonic sources. As the first attempt, RF probes in association with double-PCA transceiver are used to deliver the pulse signal into samples on-wafer and the obtained time signals are analyzed. More propositions are given to push further up this study.

    Les forêts dunaires d’Aquitaine de pin maritime (Pinus pinaster) représentent un intérêt économique et écologique important de par leur rôle multifonctionnel (production de bois,protection contre l’érosion, préservation de la biodiversité, tourisme). La régénération naturelle est pratiquée après coupe rase pour les renouveler. Mais, de nombreux échecs de régénération sont observés depuis 20 ans, entrainant des pertes économiques non négligeables.L’objectif de ce travail a été d’identifier les mécanismes écologiques impliqués dans ces échecs récurrents, afin de proposer des recommandations de gestion pour favoriser le renouvellement de ces pinèdes. Pour cela, nous avons étudié quatre étapes-clés du processus de régénération : dispersion des graines, germination, survie, et croissance. Un réseau de sites d’observation le long du cordon dunaire a été utilisé pour quantifier la régénération, en interactions avec des pratiques sylvicoles (coupe rase vs coupe progressive, semis de graines de pin maritime vs absence de semis). Deux sites semi-expérimentaux ont été installé afin d’étudier en détail certains facteurs explicatifs potentiellement importants dans notre contexte(climat, interactions plante-plante, herbivorie). Nos résultats confirment que la régénération naturelle est un processus complexe, influencé par de nombreux facteurs environnementaux et d’autres liés à la gestion, pouvant être eux mêmes en interaction. La quantité de graines atteignant le sol ne semble pas être limitante. La germination des graines est fortement liée à l’humidité du sol, et est influencée par l’hétérogénéité de la microtopographie. La sécheresse estivale, cause majeure de mortalité des plantules, peut-être modulée par le maintien d’arbres semenciers. Les interactions biotiques directes et indirectes avec la végétation de sous-bois impactent fortement la survie des plantules, mais varient grandement en direction et en intensité selon les saisons et les années.Bien que nos résultats permettent de mieux comprendre les mécanismes impliqués dans le cycle de régénération du pin maritime, il apparaît difficile de mettre en avant un seul facteur expliquant les échecs de régénération sur certains secteurs. Cependant, dans l’ensemble, le maintien d’arbres semenciers pendant quelques années permet d’obtenir une régénération réussie sur la globalité des forêts dunaires, grâce à l’apport pluriannuel de graines mais aussi à travers les modifications du microclimat sous leur canopée. Contrôler la végétation spontanée afin de réduire la compétition avec les plantules de pin, et augmenter les plans de chasse afin de réduire la pression des herbivores sur les plantules, doit aussi être envisagé dans les secteurs où les échecs de régénération sont fréquents. In south-western France, the coastal fringe with maritime pine (Pinus pinaster) forest has a multifunctional role, with erosion protection, preservation of biodiversity, tourism, and wood production as main objectives. Natural regeneration is used to renew these stands after clear-cutting. However, in recent years, regeneration failures have increased in some areas,leading to significant economic losses.The objective of this work was to identify the ecological mechanisms involved in these recurrent failures, in order to propose adapted forestry management practices to ensure forest regeneration. To do this, we studied four stages of the regeneration process: seed dispersal, germination, survival, and growth. A monitoring network of five sites along the Aquitaine Coast was also used to quantify the regeneration and characterize local differences in terms of forest management practices (clear-cut vs seed-tree regeneration,and sowing vs no sowing). Two experimental sites were set up to study in detail some factors potentially important in our context (climate, plant-plant interactions, herbivory).Our results confirm that natural regeneration is a complex process, influenced by many –often interacting – environmental and management factors. The quantity of seeds reaching the forest soil does not seem to be limiting. Seed germination is strongly related to soil moisture, and is influenced by the heterogeneity of the micro topography. Summer drought, the main cause of seedling mortality, may be mitigated by remaining seed trees on the stand.Direct and indirect biotic interactions with understorey vegetation have a strong impact on seedling survival, but vary greatly both in direction and intensity, depending on the seasonand the year.Even though our results provide a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in there generation cycle of maritime pine, it is difficult to put forward a single factor explaining local regeneration failures. However, overall, maintaining seed trees for a few years allows obtaining a successful regeneration in the entire coastal forest, thanks to the multi-yearsupply of seeds but also through the modifications of the microclimate under their canopy. Controlling understorey vegetation to reduce competition with pine seedlings and increasing hunting plans to reduce herbivory pressure on seedlings should also be considered in areas where regeneration failures are common.

    Cette étude s'inscrit dans cette analyse des mécanismes naturels et sociaux dans la Basse Vallée du Ferlo ; qui ont été qualifiés souvent par beaucoup de chercheurs et d'experts du fléau naturel ou de crise écologique profonde. Certes des mutations ont été observées dans le paysage rural du Bas-Ferlo. D'une part, celles-ci s'expliquent essentiellement par l'ampleur de la dégradation des terres agricoles due à des pratiques culturales intenses favorisées par l'arrivée de colons mourides et de nouveaux paysans grâce à la remise en eau d'une partie du Bas-Ferlo. Et d'autre part, elles sont la résultante d'une concentration excessive du bétail dans un espace de plus en plus réduit autour des forages et de certaines mares, entraînant ainsi des auréoles de dégradation tout autour et des conflits exacerbés entre les différents usagers. L'ambiguïté des règles de tenure foncière demeure sans nul doute la véritable cause des conflits dans la Basse Vallée du Ferlo. Les difficultés d'accès à l'eau par le manque de couloirs de passage et la viabilité des parcours obligent à une plus grande mobilité pastorale pour minimiser les risques. Mais en définitive, malgré les discours alarmistes sur le Ferlo, l'analyse des paysages agraires nous révèle des zones agricoles se reproduisant quasiment à l'identique, en terme de superficie, de 1954 à nous jours : la Basse Vallée du Ferlo reste un espace essentiellement pastoral. Donc, le caractère apparemment alarmant du milieu, n'est qu'une forme d'adaptation des paysages ruraux à un espace fragile. This study is in line with the analysis of natural and social mechanisms that determin the present situation in the Ferlo Low Valley. Some describe that situation as a tragedy on a natural scauge and others describe it as a serious ecological crisis.The changes have been observed in the rural landscape of Low Ferlo because of the extent of damage on farm lands that is, on the one side the consequence of a very frequent use of the lands after the arrival of mourid colonists and new farmers attracted by the drop of the price of water in a part of Low Ferlo. On the other side, it is the consequence of the excessive concentration of cattles in a more and more reduced space around the drillings and some ponds, being thus at the origin of concentric circles of damage and serious conflicts between the different users all around. Here we notice that the ambiguity that characterize the rules concerning land management, is undoubtedly the real cause of conflits in Ferlo Low Valley. Besides, the difficulties to find water due to the shortage of corridors of passage and the variability of courses makes essential a much more frequent pastoral mobility, in order to minimize risks.But, despite the alarmist discourse on Ferlo, the analysis of the landscape reveals agricultural belts that almost identically recur, in terms of area since 1954. The Ferlo Low Valley remains a particularly pastoral area. And the alarming feature of the landscapes is just a kind of adaptation of the society to a vulnerable space.

    Les méthodes de planification de mouvements robotiques se sont développées à un rythme accéléré ces dernières années. L'accent a principalement été mis sur le fait de rendre les robots plus efficaces, plus sécurisés et plus rapides à réagir à des situations imprévisibles. En conséquence, nous assistons de plus en plus à l'introduction des robots de service dans notre vie quotidienne, en particulier dans les lieux publics tels que les musées, les centres commerciaux et les aéroports. Tandis qu'un robot de service mobile se déplace dans l'environnement humain, il est important de prendre en compte l'effet de son comportement sur les personnes qu'il croise ou avec lesquelles il interagit. Nous ne les voyons pas comme de simples machines, mais comme des agents sociaux et nous nous attendons à ce qu'ils se comportent de manière similaire à l'homme en suivant les normes sociétales comme des règles. Ceci a créé de nouveaux défis et a ouvert de nouvelles directions de recherche pour concevoir des algorithmes de commande de robot, qui fournissent des comportements de robot acceptables, lisibles et proactifs. Cette thèse propose une méthode coopérative basée sur l'optimisation pour la planification de trajectoire et la navigation du robot avec des contraintes sociales intégrées pour assurer des mouvements de robots prudents, conscients de la présence de l'être humain et prévisibles. La trajectoire du robot est ajustée dynamiquement et continuellement pour satisfaire ces contraintes sociales. Pour ce faire, nous traitons la trajectoire du robot comme une bande élastique (une construction mathématique représentant la trajectoire du robot comme une série de positions et une différence de temps entre ces positions) qui peut être déformée (dans l'espace et dans le temps) par le processus d'optimisation pour respecter les contraintes données. De plus, le robot prédit aussi les trajectoires humaines plausibles dans la même zone d'exploitation en traitant les chemins humains aussi comme des bandes élastiques. Ce système nous permet d'optimiser les trajectoires des robots non seulement pour le moment présent, mais aussi pour l'interaction entière qui se produit lorsque les humains et les robots se croisent les uns les autres. Nous avons réalisé un ensemble d'expériences avec des situations interactives humains-robots qui se produisent dans la vie de tous les jours telles que traverser un couloir, passer par une porte et se croiser sur de grands espaces ouverts. La méthode de planification coopérative proposée se compare favorablement à d'autres schémas de planification de la navigation à la pointe de la technique. Nous avons augmenté le comportement de navigation du robot avec un mouvement synchronisé et réactif de sa tête. Cela permet au robot de regarder où il va et occasionnellement de détourner son regard vers les personnes voisines pour montrer que le robot va éviter toute collision possible avec eux comme prévu par le planificateur. À tout moment, le robot pondère les multiples critères selon le contexte social et décide de ce vers quoi il devrait porter le regard. Grâce à une étude utilisateur en ligne, nous avons montré que ce mécanisme de regard complète efficacement le comportement de navigation ce qui améliore la lisibilité des actions du robot. Enfin, nous avons intégré notre schéma de navigation avec un système de supervision plus large qui peut générer conjointement des comportements du robot standard tel que l'approche d'une personne et l'adaptation de la vitesse du robot selon le groupe de personnes que le robot guide dans des scénarios d'aéroport ou de musée. The methods of robotic movement planning have grown at an accelerated pace in recent years. The emphasis has mainly been on making robots more efficient, safer and react faster to unpredictable situations. As a result we are witnessing more and more service robots introduced in our everyday lives, especially in public places such as museums, shopping malls and airports. While a mobile service robot moves in a human environment, it leaves an innate effect on people about its demeanor. We do not see them as mere machines but as social agents and expect them to behave humanly by following societal norms and rules. This has created new challenges and opened new research avenues for designing robot control algorithms that deliver human-acceptable, legible and proactive robot behaviors. This thesis proposes a optimization-based cooperative method for trajectoryplanning and navigation with in-built social constraints for keeping robot motions safe, human-aware and predictable. The robot trajectory is dynamically and continuously adjusted to satisfy these social constraints. To do so, we treat the robot trajectory as an elastic band (a mathematical construct representing the robot path as a series of poses and time-difference between those poses) which can be deformed (both in space and time) by the optimization process to respect given constraints. Moreover, we also predict plausible human trajectories in the same operating area by treating human paths also as elastic bands. This scheme allows us to optimize the robot trajectories not only for the current moment but for the entire interaction that happens when humans and robot cross each other's paths. We carried out a set of experiments with canonical human-robot interactive situations that happen in our everyday lives such as crossing a hallway, passing through a door and intersecting paths on wide open spaces. The proposed cooperative planning method compares favorably against other stat-of-the-art human-aware navigation planning schemes. We have augmented robot navigation behavior with synchronized and responsive movements of the robot head, making the robot look where it is going and occasionally diverting its gaze towards nearby people to acknowledge that robot will avoid any possible collision with them. At any given moment the robot weighs multiple criteria according to the social context and decides where it should turn its gaze. Through an online user study we have shown that such gazing mechanism effectively complements the navigation behavior and it improves legibility of the robot actions. Finally, we have integrated our navigation scheme with a broader supervision system which can jointly generate normative robot behaviors such as approaching a person and adapting the robot speed according to a group of people who the robot guides in airports or museums.     L'objectif de cette thèse est de proposer des méthodes ou des outils de calibration permettant d'améliorer la qualité d'image dans le cadre de la numérisation de livres anciens.Le premier chapitre concerne la mise en oeuvre d'un "scanner sans éclairage". Ce scanner est matriciel et il ne contrôle pas la lumière via un éclairage artificiel. L'objectif du projet est de pouvoir corriger, par calibration ou par la mise en place d'un traitement d'image les défauts d'éclairage apparaissant sur le document. Nous verrons dans un premier chapitre les solutions possibles pour y répondre. Nous y proposerons également un moyen de segmenter le fond du document en se basant sur des pixels caractérisants le fond du document. Ce résultat permettra de reconstruire le fond puis de corriger les non-uniformités.Le deuxième chapitre concerne la mise en place d'un contrôle qualité de numérisation de livres anciens. Effectivement, la manipulation du matériel dans le contexte de la numérisation industrielle engendre des erreurs possibles de réglage. De ce fait, nous obtenons une numérisation de moindres qualités. Le contrôle se focalisera sur le flou de focus qui est le défaut le plus présent. Nous proposons dans ce chapitre de combiner différentes approches du problème permettant de le quantifier. Nous verrons que la combinaison de ces informations permet d'estimer avec précision la qualité de netteté de l'image.Le troisième chapitre évoque les problématiques de la gestion de la couleur. Pour avoir une homogénéité colorimétrique entre tous les appareils, il est indispensable que la calibration soit inférieure à un seuil visuel. Les contraintes industrielles ont de nombreux critères et il est difficile de tous les respecter. L'objectif de ce chapitre est de récapituler comment mettre en place un système permettant de calibrer la couleur avec toutes ces contraintes. Puis, il s'agit de comprendre comment créer une transformation entre l'espace de couleur de l'appareil et l'espace de couleur de connexion (l'espace L*a*b*). Nous verrons que la solution de ce problème se résout par une régression polynomiale dont le degré du polynôme varie en fonction du nombre de mesures faite sur la mire colorimétrique. The goal of this thesis is to add some tools in order to upgrade image quality when scanning with book digitization.First Chapter talks about image scanner whitout lighting control. This problem focuses to document camera. The goal is to correct lighting. We will see some corrections and we will suggest our method. For this part, we detect pixel's background document and we will rebuild the background of the image by them. With this information, we can correct lighting.Second chapter presents some way to do quality control after digitization, specially out of focus problem. We will enumerate different point of view to analyse and to estimate this information. To validate descriptors, we suggest to blur any picture and to compute blur estimation in order to evaluate precision. After that, we propose to combinate descriptors by machine learning.Third chapter mentions color management problem. Every image devices need to be calibrated. This chapter will expose how to calibrate scanner and explain it. We will see that L*a*b* color space is the connection profil space. To calibrate color, we must transform scanner color space to L*a*b*. We will see, in order to convert information, solution depends color chart used but we show a link between the function and thenumber of patch.
