    El sitio arqueológico Los Tres Ombúes (partido de Punta Indio, provincia de Buenos Aires) fue habitado por grupos cazadores-recolectores y ceramistas hace aproximadamente 1.000 años. Gran parte de las evidencias recuperadas corresponden a fragmentos cerámicos. El objetivo de este trabajo es caracterizar la morfología de las piezas representadas en Los Tres Ombúes mediante la reconstrucción virtual, para profundizar el conocimiento de la tecnología alfarera de los grupos humanos que habitaron el litoral rioplatense. Con tal fin fueron seleccionados tres fragmentos y tres unidades de remontaje correspondientes a seis vasijas diferentes, por presentar características propicias para la evaluación morfológica: una porción del labio que posibilite la medición del diámetro de boca y una representación del perfil que permita estimar la altura de la pieza mediante su proyección hacia el centro de la base (eje central). Para cada vasija se realizó una representación gráfica 2D a partir de fotografías a escala del perfil, con adición de las mencionadas proyecciones. Posteriormente, el dibujo fue replicado en Blender, donde la conversión a una malla tridimensional en la misma escala permitió generar el objeto 3D. La observación de las características morfológicas de las piezas permitió identificar formas mayormente no restringidas de contorno simple, mientras que el perfil restante evidencia una forma restringida simple dependiente con igual tipo de contorno. Estas corresponden a las categorías morfológicas de cuenco (n=3), escudilla (n=2) y vaso (n=1). También para cada caso se realizaron los cálculos de la capacidad o volumen bruto y de la masa del recipiente vacío. La reconstrucción virtual de las seis piezas representadas en el registro cerámico del sitio Los Tres Ombúes permitió explorar las características morfológicas y aportar a su percepción visual, lo cual implica un amplio potencial para la comunicación científica. Asimismo, los cálculos posibilitados por el programa aportaron datos significativos tendientes a la interpretación funcional del conjunto cerámico. Los Tres Ombúes archaeological site (Punta Indio, Buenos Aires province) was inhabited by pottery making hunter-gatherer groups about 1000 years ago. Many of the evidences recovered correspond to ceramic sherds. The aim of this article is to characterize the morphology of the ceramic vessels occurring at Los Tres Ombúes through virtual reconstruction, in order to enhance the knowledge of pottery technology used by the human groups that inhabited the coastal Río de la Plata. For this goal we selected three fragments and three reassembly units corresponding to six different vessels, based on their characteristics suitable for morphological evaluation: a portion of the lip to allow measurement of mouth diameter, and a representation of the profile that allows estimating height of the piece by its projection towards the center of the base (central axis). For each vessel, a 2D graphic representation was made from profile-scale photographs, with the addition of the aforementioned projections. Subsequently the drawing was replicated in Blender, where conversion to a three-dimensional mesh in the same scale allowed generating the 3D object. The observation of the morphological characteristics of the pieces allowed us to identify mostly unrestricted forms with a simple contour, while the remaining profile showed a simple restricted dependent form with the same type of contour. These correspond to the morphological categories of cuenco (n=3), escudilla (n=2) and vaso (n=1). Additionally, we calculated the capacity or gross volume and the mass of the empty container for each one. It should be noted that the virtual reconstruction of the six pieces represented in the ceramic record of the Los Tres Ombúes site allowed us to explore the morphological characteristics and contribute to their visual perception, which also entails great potential for scientific communication. Likewise, the calculations of volume and mass that the program allowed, provided significant data tending to the functional interpretation of the ceramic set. Grande parte das evidências recuperadas correspondem a fragmentos cerâmicos. O objetivo deste trabalho é caracterizar a morfologia das peças representadas em Los Tres Ombúes através da reconstrução virtual, para aprofundar o conhecimento da tecnologia oleira dos grupos humanos que habitavam a costa do Rio da Prata. Para tanto, foram selecionados três fragmentos e três unidades de remontagem correspondentes a seis recipientes diferentes, por apresentarem características propícias à avaliação morfológica: uma porção do lábio que permite medir o diâmetro da boca e uma representação do perfil que permite estimar a altura da peça através da sua projeção em direção ao centro da base (eixo central). Para cada recipiente foi feita uma representação gráfica 2D a partir de fotografias em escala do perfil, com acréscimo das projeções citadas. Posteriormente, o desenho foi replicado no Blender, onde a conversão para uma malha tridimensional na mesma escala permitiu a geração do objeto 3D. A observação das características morfológicas das peças permitiu identificar formas majoritariamente irrestritas de contorno simples, enquanto o perfil restante apresenta uma forma restrita dependente simples com o mesmo tipo de contorno. Hoy en día, muchos países han estado implementando sistemas de agricultura de precisión basados en el Internet de las Cosas (IoT), ya que son herramientas útiles para gestionar y supervisar la información de los cultivos para los agricultores. Existe una gran diversidad de enfoques que ayudan y facilitan a los productores la gestión de sus tierras agrícolas. Los sistemas IoT ofrecen capacidades de adaptación al entorno del usuario, por ejemplo, mediante la detección de datos a través de sensores inalámbricos u otros dispositivos. En agricultura, pueden apoyar la detección temprana de posibles alteraciones en los cultivos y prevenir pérdidas de producción, mejorando así la cantidad y calidad de la cosecha, teniendo en cuenta que cada cultivo requiere una intervención personalizada. Esta investigación tiene como objetivo proponer un sistema IoT para la gestión y monitoreo de las tierras agrícolas de las comunidades indígenas del Cauca, donde el acceso a Internet es limitado. El sistema se adapta a las necesidades del usuario, su información agrícola y ambiental, tiempo, ubicación y prácticas tradicionales. Este artículo presenta la arquitectura IoT y los modelos que se utilizaron para implementar y probar un prototipo llamado Food-Craft. Para el diseño de este sistema, existe una comunicación por satélite entre los puntos IoT con difícil acceso a Internet. Por otra parte, todos los datos de los sensores son recibidos con éxito por el mega Arduino y enviados a la base de datos con el ESP8266 para que se pueda acceder a ellos a través de la aplicación Android integrada y el sitio web. Nowadays, many countries have been implementing precision agricul-ture systems based on the Internet of Things (IoT) as they are useful tools to manage and monitor crop information for farmers. There is a wide diversity of approaches that help and facilitate producers to manage their agricultural land. IoT systems provide capabilities to adapt to the user's environment, for example by sensing data through wireless sensors or other devices. In agriculture, they can support the early detection of possible crop alterations and prevent production losses, thus improving the quantity and quality of the harvest, considering that each crop requires a personalized intervention. This research aims to propose an IoT system for the management and monitoring of the agricultural lands of the indigenous communities of Cauca, where Internet access is limited. The system adapts to the needs of the user, their agricultural and environmental information, time, location and traditional practices. This article introduces the IoT architec-ture and models, which were used to implement and test a prototype called Food-Craft. For the design of this system, there is satellite communication between IoT points with difficult access to the Internet. On the other hand, all sensor data is successfully received by the Arduino mega and sent to the database with the ESP8266 so that it can be accessed through the integrated Android app and web-site. This study focuses on Populus euramericana (Dode) Guinier, a globally distributed fastgrowing tree. Despite its valuable wood, it exhibits low durability. The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of a binary composite comprising silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and chitosan oligomers (COS) in protecting P. x euramericana ‘I-214’ wood against degradation caused by xylophagous fungi and termites through vacuum-pressure impregnation. The test material was carefully selected and conditioned following the guidelines of EN 350:2016, and impregnation was carried out in accordance with EN 113-1:2021. Five concentrations of AgNPs–COS composites were utilized. Biodeterioration resistance was evaluated based on EN 350:2016 for white (Trametes versicolor (L.) Lloyd) and brown (Coniophora puteana (Schumach.) P.Karst.) rot fungi, and EN 117:2012 for subterranean termites (Reticulitermis grassei Clément). The durability class and use class were assigned following EN 350:2016 and EN 335:2013, respectively. In comparison to the untreated control, the binary solution at its highest concentration (AgNPs 4 ppm + COS 20 g.L-1) demonstrated a notable reduction in weight loss, decreasing from 41.96 +- 4.49% to 30.15 +- 3.08% for white-rot fungi and from 41.93 +- 4.33% to 27.22 +- 0.66% for brown rot fungi. Furthermore, the observed termite infestation shifted from “heavy” to “attempted attack”, resulting in a decrease in the survival rate from 53.98 +- 10.40% to 26.62 +- 8.63%. Consequently, the durability classification of P. x euramericana I-214 witnessed an enhancement from “Not durable” to “Slightly” and “Moderately durable” concerning decay fungi and termites, respectively. These findings expand the potential applications of this wood and substantiate the advantages of employing this environmentally friendly treatment. Laboratorio de Investigaciones en Madera

    Las tecnologías emergentes, como la computación en nube, la inteligencia artificial, la robótica y las tecnologías de la información, facilitan la transformación digital y promueven los servicios digitales. Existen numerosas investigaciones sobre la aceptación y el uso de tecnologías y prácticas específicas de transformación digital (TD). Sin embargo, se necesita más investigación para comprender mejor la aceptación de los usuarios y cómo utilizan la tecnología para desarrollar mejor los servicios digitales. Por ello, este artículo 1) propone una Revisión Sistemática de la Literatura (SLR) de los modelos de aceptación y uso de las tecnologías, así como de determinadas prácticas de TD aplicadas a la interacción humano-computadora (HCI) de los servicios digitales; 2) proporciona un análisis de los resultados del comportamiento de los factores y prácticas; y 3) propone una taxonomía de los factores de aceptación y uso aplicados a la HCI de los servicios digitales por actividad económica. El principal aporte de este trabajo es la taxonomía propuesta en un área de vacante relevante para los esfuerzos de transformación digital aplicados a los servicios digitales que se llevan a cabo a nivel mundial, tanto en el sector privado como en el público. Emerging technologies, e.g., cloud computing, artificial intelligence, robotics, and information technologies, facilitate digital transformation and promote digital services. Significant research exists on the acceptance and use of technologies and specific digital transformation (DT) practices. However, more research is needed to better understand user’s acceptance and how they use technology to better de-sign digital services. Thus, this paper: 1) proposes a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of the models of acceptance and use of technologies, as well as of certain DT practices applied to the human-computer interaction (HCI) of digital services; 2) provides an analysis of the results of the behavior of the factors and practices; and 3) proposes a taxonomy of the acceptance and use factors applied to HCI of digital services by economic activity. The main contribution of this work is the proposed taxonomy in a vacancy area relevant to digital transformation efforts applied to digital services pursued globally, both in the private and public sectors.     Authors: Armando E. De Giusti;

    En este trabajo se analiza el panorama que se plantea en las Universidades ante el rápido avance de la transformación digital en todos los ámbitos de la sociedad. Se discuten aspectos que definen la transformación digital, sus ejes tecnológicos y los pasos que están dando las instituciones de educación superior para adaptarse a esta transformación buscando mantener y mejorar el aprendizaje de los alumnos y la calidad de los egresados. Se trata de presentar una mirada integral, que vaya más allá del ámbito del aula y considere aspectos críticos en una Universidad como son la infraestructura para adecuarse al cambio tecnológico, los cambios en la gestión que se requieren, la capacitación de docentes y no docentes y también los aspectos que derivan en un modelo “pedagógico-tecnológico” que adopta diferentes herramientas y metodologías para potenciar el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje. Por último, se analizan aspectos positivos y desafíos abiertos en el tema de la transformación digital de la Educación Superior. This paper analyzes the panorama that Universities must face with the fast advance of digital transformation in all areas of society. Aspects that define the digital transformation, its technological axes and the steps that higher education institutions are taking to adapt to this transformation are discussed, considering thar Universities try to maintain and improve student learning and quality of graduates. We try to present a comprehensive view, which goes beyond the classroom environment and considers critical aspects in an University such as the required infrastructure, the changes in management, the training of teachers, administrative and technical personal and also the aspects that lead to a "pedagogical-technological" model that adopts different tools and methodologies to enhance the teaching and learning process. Finally, positive aspects and open challenges are analyzed for digital transformation of Higher Education. Número especial: Transformación digital y su impacto en educación. Facultad de Informática

    El objetivo del artículo es analizar los cambios que se están generando en la agricultura por la pérdida de importancia relativa de esta actividad, lo que ha dado paso a una reconversión hacia el turismo o como un complemento a este en la comuna de Carahue, Chile. Se empleó una metodología cualitativa, aplicando entrevistas semiestructuradas. Los resultados indican que efectivamente hay una declinación de la actividad agrícola y que la población se ha orientado a las actividades turísticas bajo diferentes modalidades; y que, si bien son cambios que se observan en diferentes espacios rurales, los procesos están relacionados con las especificidades de cada territorio. The objective of the article is to analyse the changes that are being generated in agriculture for the loss of relative importance of this activity, which has given way to a conversion towards tourism or as a complement to this in the commune of Carahue, Chile. A qualitative methodology-applying semi -structured interviews was used. The results indicate that there is indeed a decline of agricultural activity where the population has been oriented to tourist activities under different modalities and that although they are changes that are observed in different rural spaces, the processes will be related to the specificities of each territory.     Desde el siglo XVII, el regadío se apunta como una solución para asentar población en el Alentejo debido al aumento de la producción agrícola y la consecuente reforma agraria. Sin embargo, solo desde mediados del siglo XX se produjo un crecimiento de las zonas de regadío. Después de más de seis décadas, este trabajo estudia el impacto de la construcción de la presa de Maranhão, Avis, Alentejo cruzando los objetivos fijados con la respectiva evolución demográfica, económica y social. Del análisis de distintas series estadísticas se concluye que la mayoría de los objetivos no se alcanzaron. Avis es hoy un territorio despoblado, con bajos índices de desarrollo y una estructura agraria latifundista. Además, se ha producido una expansión de los monocultivos intensivos, poniendo en peligro la sostenibilidad medioambiental regional. Esta reflexión basada en el análisis histórico es fundamental en un momento en que se anuncia la construcción de nuevas presas. Since the 17th century, irrigation has been seen as a solution for reverse depopulation in the Alentejo due to the increase in agricultural production and the consequent land reform. However, only from the mid-20th century onwards there was a growth of irrigated areas. After more than six decades, this article studies the impact of the construction of the Maranhão dam, Avis, Alentejo crossing the proposed objectives with the respective demographic, economic and social developments. From the analysis of different statistical series, it is concluded that most of the objectives were not achieved. Avis is today a depopulated territory, with low development rates and a latifundium property structure. Additionally, there has been a rapid expansion of intensive monocultures, endangering the environmental sustainability of the region. This reflection based on historical analysis is fundamental at a time when the construction of new dams is being announced.     Authors: Gisele Andrea Bilañski;

    El descubrimiento de que CRISPR podía utilizarse para editar ADN democratizó el acceso a la ingeniería genética, al reducir los costos, los tiempos y los conocimientos necesarios. En la Argentina, apareció como una “ventana de oportunidad” para mejorar la inserción de los bienes y servicios biotecnológicos en el mercado internacional y resolver los problemas generados por la extensión masiva de la agricultura con transgénicos. Recurriendo a entrevistas, observaciones y fuentes secundarias, este trabajo reconstruye las prácticas de científicos, empresarios y funcionarios de gobierno que hacen posible la investigación, el desarrollo y la innovación (I+D+i) con CRISPR, identificando sus límites y posibilidades. Encuentra que el principal desafío para las innovaciones en curso es el marco regulatorio que establezcan otros países. Por tanto, la apuesta por el desarrollo basado en esta aplicación biotecnológica depende de estrategias y negociaciones geopolíticas que permitan la exportación de los resultados de la I+D+i realizada en el país. The discovery that CRISPR could be used to edit DNA democratized access to genetic engineering by reducing the costs, time and knowledge required. In Argentina, it appeared as a "window of opportunity" to improve the insertion of biotechnological goods and services in the international market and to solve the problems generated by the massive extension of agriculture with GMO. Using interviews, observations, and secondary sources, this paper reconstructs the practices of scientists, businessmen, and government officials that make possible CRISPR research, development and innovation (R&D&i), identifying its limits and possibilities. It finds that the main challenge for ongoing innovations is the regulatory framework established by other countries. Therefore, the commitment to development based on this biotechnological application depends on strategies and geopolitical negotiations that allow the export of the results of the R&D+i carried out in the country.     Authors: Ángela Serrano Zapata; Andrew Brooks; David Esteban Ramírez Ramón;

    El aumento de la demanda global de una mercancía puede, paradójicamente, reducir las oportunidades comerciales de productores orientados al mercado nacional. En Colombia, la creciente demanda de aguacates para exportación ha llevado a la expulsión de productores de otras variedades que durante décadas han abastecido el mercado nacional. Esto se debe a la entrada de inversionistas que han expandido la producción de aguacate tanto en los mercados nuevos como en los preexistentes. Al mismo tiempo, los productores preexistentes han rechazado las oportunidades creadas por el aumento de la demanda cuando estas van en contra de sus posibilidades de sustento. A través de entrevistas con actores de la cadena de valor del aguacate en Santander, Colombia, y un diálogo con las literaturas de cadenas de valor y sistemas agroalimentarios, esta investigación destaca la necesidad de estudiar los efectos sociales del comercio de mercancías más allá de las relaciones lineales. This research finds that rising global demand for a specific commodity can, paradoxically, reduce commercial opportunities for preexisting producers oriented towards domestic markets. In Colombia, increased commercial opportunities for export avocados have excluded small-scale farmers from the domestic markets they have supplied for decades. This situation is the result of increased participation of investors in avocado production, as these investors have seized part of the opportunities in the domestic market. Simultaneously, traditional farmers have consciously rejected apparent opportunities, created by rising global demand for avocados, that put their long-term livelihoods at risk. This work is based on ethnographic research in Santander Colombia. Through a dialogue between global value chain analysis and agrofood systems research, we highlight the need to explore the effects of changing market patterns beyond linear relations. O sítio arqueológico Los Tres Ombúes (Partido de Punta Indio, província de Buenos Aires) era habitado por grupos de caçadores-coletores e ceramistas há aproximadamente 1.000 anos. Grande parte das evidências recuperadas correspondem a fragmentos cerâmicos. O objetivo deste trabalho é caracterizar a morfologia das peças representadas em Los Tres Ombúes através da reconstrução virtual, para aprofundar o conhecimento da tecnologia oleira dos grupos humanos que habitavam a costa do Rio da Prata. Para tanto, foram selecionados três fragmentos e três unidades de remontagem correspondentes a seis recipientes diferentes, por apresentarem características propícias à avaliação morfológica: uma porção do lábio que permite medir o diâmetro da boca e uma representação do perfil que permite estimar a altura da peça através da sua projeção em direção ao centro da base (eixo central). Para cada recipiente foi feita uma representação gráfica 2D a partir de fotografias em escala do perfil, com acréscimo das projeções citadas. Posteriormente, o desenho foi replicado no Blender, onde a conversão para uma malha tridimensional na mesma escala permitiu a geração do objeto 3D. A observação das características morfológicas das peças permitiu identificar formas majoritariamente irrestritas de contorno simples, enquanto o perfil restante apresenta uma forma restrita dependente simples com o mesmo tipo de contorno. Estas correspondem às categorias morfológicas de cuenco (n=3), escudilla (n=2) e vaso (n=1). Também para cada caso foram realizados cálculos da capacidade ou volume bruto e da massa do recipiente vazio. A reconstrução virtual das seis peças representadas no registo cerâmico do sítio Los Tres Ombúes permitiu explorar as características morfológicas e contribuir para a sua percepção visual, o que implica um amplo potencial de comunicação científica. Da mesma forma, os cálculos possibilitados pelo programa forneceram dados significativos voltados à interpretação funcional do conjunto cerâmico. Dossier: 5tas.

    Las tecnologías emergentes, como la computación en nube, la inteligencia artificial, la robótica y las tecnologías de la información, facilitan la transformación digital y promueven los servicios digitales. Existen numerosas investigaciones sobre la aceptación y el uso de tecnologías y prácticas específicas de transformación digital (TD). Sin embargo, se necesita más investigación para comprender mejor la aceptación de los usuarios y cómo utilizan la tecnología para desarrollar mejor los servicios digitales. Por ello, este artículo 1) propone una Revisión Sistemática de la Literatura (SLR) de los modelos de aceptación y uso de las tecnologías, así como de determinadas prácticas de TD aplicadas a la interacción humano-computadora (HCI) de los servicios digitales; 2) proporciona un análisis de los resultados del comportamiento de los factores y prácticas; y 3) propone una taxonomía de los factores de aceptación y uso aplicados a la HCI de los servicios digitales por actividad económica. El principal aporte de este trabajo es la taxonomía propuesta en un área de vacante relevante para los esfuerzos de transformación digital aplicados a los servicios digitales que se llevan a cabo a nivel mundial, tanto en el sector privado como en el público. Emerging technologies, e.g., cloud computing, artificial intelligence, robotics, and information technologies, facilitate digital transformation and promote digital services. Significant research exists on the acceptance and use of technologies and specific digital transformation (DT) practices. However, more research is needed to better understand user’s acceptance and how they use technology to better de-sign digital services. Thus, this paper: 1) proposes a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of the models of acceptance and use of technologies, as well as of certain DT practices applied to the human-computer interaction (HCI) of digital services; 2) provides an analysis of the results of the behavior of the factors and practices; and 3) proposes a taxonomy of the acceptance and use factors applied to HCI of digital services by economic activity. The main contribution of this work is the proposed taxonomy in a vacancy area relevant to digital transformation efforts applied to digital services pursued globally, both in the private and public sectors.     Authors: Armando E. De Giusti;

    En este trabajo se analiza el panorama que se plantea en las Universidades ante el rápido avance de la transformación digital en todos los ámbitos de la sociedad. Se discuten aspectos que definen la transformación digital, sus ejes tecnológicos y los pasos que están dando las instituciones de educación superior para adaptarse a esta transformación buscando mantener y mejorar el aprendizaje de los alumnos y la calidad de los egresados. Se trata de presentar una mirada integral, que vaya más allá del ámbito del aula y considere aspectos críticos en una Universidad como son la infraestructura para adecuarse al cambio tecnológico, los cambios en la gestión que se requieren, la capacitación de docentes y no docentes y también los aspectos que derivan en un modelo “pedagógico-tecnológico” que adopta diferentes herramientas y metodologías para potenciar el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje. Por último, se analizan aspectos positivos y desafíos abiertos en el tema de la transformación digital de la Educación Superior. This paper analyzes the panorama that Universities must face with the fast advance of digital transformation in all areas of society. Aspects that define the digital transformation, its technological axes and the steps that higher education institutions are taking to adapt to this transformation are discussed, considering thar Universities try to maintain and improve student learning and quality of graduates. We try to present a comprehensive view, which goes beyond the classroom environment and considers critical aspects in an University such as the required infrastructure, the changes in management, the training of teachers, administrative and technical personal and also the aspects that lead to a "pedagogical-technological" model that adopts different tools and methodologies to enhance the teaching and learning process. Finally, positive aspects and open challenges are analyzed for digital transformation of Higher Education. Número especial: Transformación digital y su impacto en educación. Facultad de Informática

    El objetivo del artículo es analizar los cambios que se están generando en la agricultura por la pérdida de importancia relativa de esta actividad, lo que ha dado paso a una reconversión hacia el turismo o como un complemento a este en la comuna de Carahue, Chile. Se empleó una metodología cualitativa, aplicando entrevistas semiestructuradas. Los resultados indican que efectivamente hay una declinación de la actividad agrícola y que la población se ha orientado a las actividades turísticas bajo diferentes modalidades; y que, si bien son cambios que se observan en diferentes espacios rurales, los procesos están relacionados con las especificidades de cada territorio. The objective of the article is to analyse the changes that are being generated in agriculture for the loss of relative importance of this activity, which has given way to a conversion towards tourism or as a complement to this in the commune of Carahue, Chile. A qualitative methodology-applying semi -structured interviews was used. The results indicate that there is indeed a decline of agricultural activity where the population has been oriented to tourist activities under different modalities and that although they are changes that are observed in different rural spaces, the processes will be related to the specificities of each territory.     Desde el siglo XVII, el regadío se apunta como una solución para asentar población en el Alentejo debido al aumento de la producción agrícola y la consecuente reforma agraria. Sin embargo, solo desde mediados del siglo XX se produjo un crecimiento de las zonas de regadío. Después de más de seis décadas, este trabajo estudia el impacto de la construcción de la presa de Maranhão, Avis, Alentejo cruzando los objetivos fijados con la respectiva evolución demográfica, económica y social. Del análisis de distintas series estadísticas se concluye que la mayoría de los objetivos no se alcanzaron. Avis es hoy un territorio despoblado, con bajos índices de desarrollo y una estructura agraria latifundista. Además, se ha producido una expansión de los monocultivos intensivos, poniendo en peligro la sostenibilidad medioambiental regional. Esta reflexión basada en el análisis histórico es fundamental en un momento en que se anuncia la construcción de nuevas presas. Since the 17th century, irrigation has been seen as a solution for reverse depopulation in the Alentejo due to the increase in agricultural production and the consequent land reform. However, only from the mid-20th century onwards there was a growth of irrigated areas. After more than six decades, this article studies the impact of the construction of the Maranhão dam, Avis, Alentejo crossing the proposed objectives with the respective demographic, economic and social developments. From the analysis of different statistical series, it is concluded that most of the objectives were not achieved. Avis is today a depopulated territory, with low development rates and a latifundium property structure. Additionally, there has been a rapid expansion of intensive monocultures, endangering the environmental sustainability of the region. This reflection based on historical analysis is fundamental at a time when the construction of new dams is being announced.     Authors: Gisele Andrea Bilañski;

    El descubrimiento de que CRISPR podía utilizarse para editar ADN democratizó el acceso a la ingeniería genética, al reducir los costos, los tiempos y los conocimientos necesarios. En la Argentina, apareció como una “ventana de oportunidad” para mejorar la inserción de los bienes y servicios biotecnológicos en el mercado internacional y resolver los problemas generados por la extensión masiva de la agricultura con transgénicos. Recurriendo a entrevistas, observaciones y fuentes secundarias, este trabajo reconstruye las prácticas de científicos, empresarios y funcionarios de gobierno que hacen posible la investigación, el desarrollo y la innovación (I+D+i) con CRISPR, identificando sus límites y posibilidades. Encuentra que el principal desafío para las innovaciones en curso es el marco regulatorio que establezcan otros países. Por tanto, la apuesta por el desarrollo basado en esta aplicación biotecnológica depende de estrategias y negociaciones geopolíticas que permitan la exportación de los resultados de la I+D+i realizada en el país. The discovery that CRISPR could be used to edit DNA democratized access to genetic engineering by reducing the costs, time and knowledge required. In Argentina, it appeared as a "window of opportunity" to improve the insertion of biotechnological goods and services in the international market and to solve the problems generated by the massive extension of agriculture with GMO. Using interviews, observations, and secondary sources, this paper reconstructs the practices of scientists, businessmen, and government officials that make possible CRISPR research, development and innovation (R&D&i), identifying its limits and possibilities. It finds that the main challenge for ongoing innovations is the regulatory framework established by other countries. Therefore, the commitment to development based on this biotechnological application depends on strategies and geopolitical negotiations that allow the export of the results of the R&D+i carried out in the country. El aumento de la demanda global de una mercancía puede, paradójicamente, reducir las oportunidades comerciales de productores orientados al mercado nacional. En Colombia, la creciente demanda de aguacates para exportación ha llevado a la expulsión de productores de otras variedades que durante décadas han abastecido el mercado nacional. Esto se debe a la entrada de inversionistas que han expandido la producción de aguacate tanto en los mercados nuevos como en los preexistentes. Al mismo tiempo, los productores preexistentes han rechazado las oportunidades creadas por el aumento de la demanda cuando estas van en contra de sus posibilidades de sustento. A través de entrevistas con actores de la cadena de valor del aguacate en Santander, Colombia, y un diálogo con las literaturas de cadenas de valor y sistemas agroalimentarios, esta investigación destaca la necesidad de estudiar los efectos sociales del comercio de mercancías más allá de las relaciones lineales. This research finds that rising global demand for a specific commodity can, paradoxically, reduce commercial opportunities for preexisting producers oriented towards domestic markets. In Colombia, increased commercial opportunities for export avocados have excluded small-scale farmers from the domestic markets they have supplied for decades. This situation is the result of increased participation of investors in avocado production, as these investors have seized part of the opportunities in the domestic market. Simultaneously, traditional farmers have consciously rejected apparent opportunities, created by rising global demand for avocados, that put their long-term livelihoods at risk. This work is based on ethnographic research in Santander Colombia. Through a dialogue between global value chain analysis and agrofood systems research, we highlight the need to explore the effects of changing market patterns beyond linear relations.
