Raja Rao;Amazonians are the pioneer workers in put in their effort to increase the soil fertility and productivity by the use of biochar. Biochar is nothing but life from charcoal. Few decades ago it is a common practice for the farmers to burn the plants after harvest. Though the farmers are not aware of the importance of biochar they felt that they are irradiating different kinds of infections and diseases and also the insects. This way the farmers are indirectly helping themselves by improving the soil texture, fertility and also productivity of the crop. The production of biochar is anerobic process. The biochar can be obtained from different crop residues which may be from black or red soils. Biochar is nothing but carbon stable form and it can remain in soil for decades.

Reshma G. S. Sreedaya;This research study aimed to identify good agricultural practices followed by the awardee farmers of Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta districts of Kerala. Altogether, 70 awardee farmers, 35 each from the two districts constituted the sample. This research was to analyze the main good agricultural practices followed by awardee farmers in major crops of Kerala viz. coconut, rice, banana and vegetables. The major constraints faced by these farmers and the strategies to overcome it were also studied in this work. The results showed that majority of the awardee farmers followed good agricultural practices like application of a mixture of sand, salt and ash in the pit before transplanting of coconut, soaking of seeds in fresh water in jute sacks for one day and keeping wet seeds for three days for germination in the case of rice, covering of banana bunches with dried banana leaves to increase bunch size and spraying neem oil -garlic emulsion (2%) to control aphids of chilli. The main constraint faced by the awardee farmers was pest and wild animals attack.

Gurumurthy Ganapathi;An investigation was undertaken in Tommaladahalli (566.13 ha) micro-watershed of Tarikere taluk, Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka to assess available nutrient status in the surface soils. About 118 surface soil samples were collected grid wise by using cadastral map at 250 m grid interval and were analyzed for their fertility status using standard procedures. Soil fertility maps were prepared by means of interpolation method called Krigging. The results revealed that the pH, electrical conductivity, and organic carbon were ranged from 5.37 to 9.06, 0.065 to 0.466 dS m-1 and 0.33 to 1.62 per cent respectively. The available N, P2O5, K2O were ranged from 175.6 to 545.6 kg ha-1, 11.8 to 61.1 kg ha-1 and 122.7 to 491.4 kg ha-1, respectively. The available nitrogen and phosphorus were low to medium, where as potassium content was medium to high in the entire study area. Micronutrients viz. zinc, iron and boron were sufficient and were ranged from 0.34 to 1.17 mg kg-1, 2.03 to 21.86 mg kg-1 and 0.30 to 0.89 mg kg-1 respectively.

Mishra Isha Anandita Sahoo;A study entitled “Job Perception and Satisfaction level of Lady Village Agricultural Workers with their assigned job in the Coastal Districts of Odisha” was conducted in all the five coastal districts of Odisha covering 80 number of respondent LVAWs selected for the purpose following Ex-post-facto research design. Data were collected through mailed questionnaire during 2020 followed by statistical analysis with the help of frequency, percentage, mean score, standard deviation and rank order. The major findings of the study revealed that majority of the respondent LVAWs were at medium level of perception about their job, i.e., 75% at medium level followed by 15% at low level and 10% at high level of job perception. After statistical analysis of the data collected with respect to job satisfaction level of LVAWs, the findings indicated that majority i.e., up to the extent of 62.5% were at medium level of job satisfaction followed by 20% at low level and 17.5% were at high level of job satisfaction.

Payal Sandip;In the present study, an effort has been made to study in detail of Land Use/Land Cover Mapping for Sambar watershed by using Remote Sensing and GIS technique was carried out during the year of 2020-2021 in Parbhani district. In this research the Remote Sensing and Geographical Information system technique was used for identifying the land use/land cover classes with the help of ArcGIS 10.8 software. The Sambar watershed is located in 19º35ʹ78.78˝ N and 76º87ʹ88.44˝ E in the Parbhani district of Marathwada region in Maharashtra. It is covered a total area 97.01 km2. The land use/land cover map and its classes were identified by the Supervised Classification Method in ArcGIS 10.8 software by using the Landsat 8 satellite image. Total six classes are identified namely as Agricultural area, Forest area, Urban area, Barren land, Water bodies and Fallow land. The Agricultural lands are well distributed throughout the watershed area and it covers 4135 ha. (43 per cent). Forest occupies 502 ha area and sharing about 5 per cent of the total land use land cover of the study area. The Urban land occupies 390 ha. area (4 per cent) and there was a rapid expansion of settlement area. Barren land occupies 3392 ha. area (35 per cent). A water bodies occupy 630 ha. area (6 per cent) and the Fallow land occupies 650 ha (7 per cent) but well-developed dendritic drainage pattern and good water availability is in the Sambar watershed.

Reshma G. S. Sreedaya;This research study aimed to identify good agricultural practices followed by the awardee farmers of Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta districts of Kerala. Altogether, 70 awardee farmers, 35 each from the two districts constituted the sample. This research was to analyze the main good agricultural practices followed by awardee farmers in major crops of Kerala viz. coconut, rice, banana and vegetables. The major constraints faced by these farmers and the strategies to overcome it were also studied in this work. The results showed that majority of the awardee farmers followed good agricultural practices like application of a mixture of sand, salt and ash in the pit before transplanting of coconut, soaking of seeds in fresh water in jute sacks for one day and keeping wet seeds for three days for germination in the case of rice, covering of banana bunches with dried banana leaves to increase bunch size and spraying neem oil -garlic emulsion (2%) to control aphids of chilli. The main constraint faced by the awardee farmers was pest and wild animals attack.

Gurumurthy Ganapathi;An investigation was undertaken in Tommaladahalli (566.13 ha) micro-watershed of Tarikere taluk, Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka to assess available nutrient status in the surface soils. About 118 surface soil samples were collected grid wise by using cadastral map at 250 m grid interval and were analyzed for their fertility status using standard procedures. Soil fertility maps were prepared by means of interpolation method called Krigging. The results revealed that the pH, electrical conductivity, and organic carbon were ranged from 5.37 to 9.06, 0.065 to 0.466 dS m-1 and 0.33 to 1.62 per cent respectively. The available N, P2O5, K2O were ranged from 175.6 to 545.6 kg ha-1, 11.8 to 61.1 kg ha-1 and 122.7 to 491.4 kg ha-1, respectively. The available nitrogen and phosphorus were low to medium, where as potassium content was medium to high in the entire study area. Micronutrients viz. zinc, iron and boron were sufficient and were ranged from 0.34 to 1.17 mg kg-1, 2.03 to 21.86 mg kg-1 and 0.30 to 0.89 mg kg-1 respectively.

Mishra Isha Anandita Sahoo;A study entitled “Job Perception and Satisfaction level of Lady Village Agricultural Workers with their assigned job in the Coastal Districts of Odisha” was conducted in all the five coastal districts of Odisha covering 80 number of respondent LVAWs selected for the purpose following Ex-post-facto research design. Data were collected through mailed questionnaire during 2020 followed by statistical analysis with the help of frequency, percentage, mean score, standard deviation and rank order. The major findings of the study revealed that majority of the respondent LVAWs were at medium level of perception about their job, i.e., 75% at medium level followed by 15% at low level and 10% at high level of job perception. After statistical analysis of the data collected with respect to job satisfaction level of LVAWs, the findings indicated that majority i.e., up to the extent of 62.5% were at medium level of job satisfaction followed by 20% at low level and 17.5% were at high level of job satisfaction.

Payal Sandip;In the present study, an effort has been made to study in detail of Land Use/Land Cover Mapping for Sambar watershed by using Remote Sensing and GIS technique was carried out during the year of 2020-2021 in Parbhani district. In this research the Remote Sensing and Geographical Information system technique was used for identifying the land use/land cover classes with the help of ArcGIS 10.8 software. The Sambar watershed is located in 19º35ʹ78.78˝ N and 76º87ʹ88.44˝ E in the Parbhani district of Marathwada region in Maharashtra. It is covered a total area 97.01 km2. The land use/land cover map and its classes were identified by the Supervised Classification Method in ArcGIS 10.8 software by using the Landsat 8 satellite image. Total six classes are identified namely as Agricultural area, Forest area, Urban area, Barren land, Water bodies and Fallow land. The Agricultural lands are well distributed throughout the watershed area and it covers 4135 ha. (43 per cent). Forest occupies 502 ha area and sharing about 5 per cent of the total land use land cover of the study area. The Urban land occupies 390 ha. area (4 per cent) and there was a rapid expansion of settlement area. Barren land occupies 3392 ha. area (35 per cent). A water bodies occupy 630 ha. area (6 per cent) and the Fallow land occupies 650 ha (7 per cent) but well-developed dendritic drainage pattern and good water availability is in the Sambar watershed.
