    The objective of this work was to generate a series of equations to describe the voltinism of Lobesia botrana in the quarantine area of the main winemaking area of Argentina, Mendoza. To do this we considered an average climate scenario and extrapolatedthese equations to other winegrowing areas at risk of being invaded. A grid of 4 km2was used to generate statistics on L. botrana captures and the mean temperature accumulation for the pixel. Four sets of logistic regression were constructed using the percentage of accumulated trap catches/grid/week and the degree-day accumulation above7°C, from 1st July. By means of a habitat model, an extrapolation of the phenologicalmodel generated to other Argentine winemaking areas was evaluated. According to ourresults, it can be expected that 50% of male adult emergence for the first flight occurs at248.79 ± 4 degree-days (DD), in the second flight at 860.18 ± 4.1 DD, while in the thirdand the fourth flights, 1671.34 ± 5.8 DD and 2335.64 ± 4.3 DD, respectively. Subsequentclimatic comparison determined that climatic conditions of uncolonized areas of Cuyo Region have a similar suitability index to the quarantine area used to adjust the phenologicalmodel. The upper valley of Río Negro and Neuquén are environmentally similar. Valleys ofthe northwestern region of Argentina showed lower average suitability index and greatervariability among SI estimated by the algorithm considered. The combination of two models for the estimation of adult emergence time and potential distribution, can provide greater certainties in decision-making and risk assessment of invasive species.     La inclusión de cultivos de cobertura invernales (CCI) en un sistema de siembra directa (SD) en reemplazo del barbecho constituye una alternativa promisoria para mejorar la salud del suelo y contribuir a la sustentabilidad ambiental de los sistemas agrícolas. Esta revisión ofrece un panorama integral de los efectos sobre el microbioma del suelo que tiene la introducción de CCI en rotación con cultivos de verano en sistemas de SD vs. el barbecho desnudo. Se realizó una búsqueda sistemática de la literatura que reporta los efectos de los CCI sobre los parámetros de abundancia, actividad y diversidad microbiana del suelo. Combinando 7 criterios de búsqueda se seleccionaron y analizaron 22 trabajos. El conjunto de resultados de esos trabajos muestra que la actividad enzimática del suelo se ve favorecida con la inclusión de CCI en la rotación, principalmente si estos se componen de leguminosas y mezclas de especies. Más de la mitad de esos trabajos reportan una mayor biomasa microbiana con CCI que con barbecho. Además, se advierte que los efectos de los CCI sobre los parámetros microbianos son independientes de la duración de los ensayos. Sin embargo, aún se necesitan más investigaciones básicas que permitan reducir la heterogeneidad entre estudios y comprender las complejas interacciones que ocurren entre los CCI y el microbioma del suelo. The inclusion of winter cover crops (WCC) in no-till (NT) systems in replacement of bare fallow is a promising alternative to improve soil health and consequently, contribute to environmental sustainability of agricultural systems. This review provides a comprehensive evaluation of the effects of the use of WCC in rotation with summer cash crops under NT systems on the soil microbiome versus bare fallows. A systematic literature search was conducted to evaluate the impact of WCC on microbial parameters indicative of abundance, activity and diversity. Twenty-two papers were selected based on seven combined criteria. The results of this review show that enzyme activities in soil are enhanced with the inclusion of WCC in the rotation, particularly those that include legumes and mix of species. In general, more than half of the analyzed papers report higher microbial biomass in soils with WCC than in bare fallow. Interestingly, the effects of WCC on microbial parameters are independent of the duration of the experiments. However, more basic research is necessary to reduce the heterogeneity of the studies and to better understand the complexity of the interactions between WCC and the soil microbiome.     Mineralization studies are the first step in determining the usefulness of an amendment such as fertilizer, and are essential to creating guidelines for dairy waste management to help producers make informed decisions. Our goal was to assess the effects of dairy raw, composted, and digested manure amendments on C, N, and P mineralization to evaluate the feasibility of their in-farm production and use as organic fertilizers. The liquid and solid fractions of dairy effluent (LDE, SDE), dairy effluent digestate (DED), onion–cattle manure digestate and compost (OCMD, OCMC) were characterized by chemical and spectroscopic methods. Soil microcosms with LDE, SDE, DED, OCMD and OCMC and the C, N and P mineralization were determined periodically. Elemental and structural differences among amendments led to contrasting profiles of C, N, and P mineralization, and thus to differences in nutrient availability, immobilization, and CO2 emission. All processed materials were more stable than untreated waste, reducing C emissions. Digestates showed net C immobilization, and supplied the highest levels of available N, creating a relative P deficit. Instead, the compost supplied N and P via mineralization, producing a relative P excess. Future studies should aim at evaluating fertilization strategies that combine both kinds of amendments, to exploit their complimentary agronomic characteristics.     The production of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) in Argentina is centered in the northwestern region (NWA), where the incidence of root rots and stem diseases caused by Fusarium spp. has increased considerably in recent years. This study aimed to evaluate the pathogenicity levels of isolates of the F. oxysporum and F. solani complexes in different varieties of Virginia Type tobacco. The commercial varieties MB47, PVH229, NC71, K346, K326, and K394 were inoculated with six isolates of both complexes. The variables evaluated were the incidence and severity of the symptoms. The area under the disease progress curves (AUDPC) was calculated and subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA). Also, disease epidemiological models were fitted to the experimental data. The MB47 variety was significantly less infected and the varieties K346, K326, and K394 had the highest AUDPC means, showing susceptibility to the isolates. The disease intensity curves were adequately described by the monomolecular and logistic models. The results provide, for the first time, information about the levels of tolerance to vascular wilt and root rot under controlled conditions for the main varieties of Virginia-type tobacco grown in NWA. La producción de Tabaco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) en Argentina se concentra en la Región Noroeste (NOA), donde la incidencia de las enfermedades radiculares y de tallo causadas por Fusarium spp. han aumentado en los últimos años. Este estudio, tuvo como objetivo evaluar los niveles de patogenicidad de aislamientos de los complejos F. oxysporum y F. solani en diferentes variedades de tabaco tipo Virginia. Las variedades evaluadas fueron: MB47, PVH229, NC71, K346, K326 y K394 que se inocularon con seis aislamientos de ambos complejos. Las variables evaluadas fueron incidencia (I) y severidad (S). Se calculó el área bajo las curvas de progreso de la enfermedad (ABCPE) y se sometió a análisis de varianza (ANOVA). Además, se ajustaron los datos experimentales a modelos epidemiológicos del proceso de enfermedad. La variedad MB47 resultó significativamente menos infectada y las variedades K346, K326, K394 presentaron los valores de ABCPE más altos, mostrando un comportamiento susceptible. Las curvas de intensidad de la enfermedad se descri-bieron adecuadamente mediante los modelos monomolecular y logístico.     Salinity is a major detrimental factor for plant growth and crop productivity that could be alleviated by the use of plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB) with a protective role in such stressful conditions. In this study, four native strains of the genus Pseudomonas were isolated from both a strongly saline soil and the rhizosphere of soybean plants grown in a slightly saline soil. These isolates were able to tolerate high NaCl concentration, showed efficient adhesion to biotic and abiotic surfaces and efficiently colonized the rhizosphere of soybean grown in slightly saline soil. In these conditions, the four strains outperformed Pseudomonas putida KT2440, a strain known as a good root colonizer of different plants. Inoculation with all the isolates improved seed germination and vigor index, particularly in saline conditions, and one of them also had a positive effect on shoot length and phenological state of soybean plants grown in slightly saline soil. Our results suggest that the search for classical plant growth promotion traits may not be mandatory for selecting putative PGPB. Instead, characteristics such as stress tolerance, adhesion, competitive colonization, and plant growth promotion should be tested using the soil types and crops in which the bacteria will be used.     According to the report on the World State of Food and Agriculture 2019, progress in the fight against food loss and waste, and the reduction of food loss, help to improve the sustainability of the environment, while the reduction of waste benefits food security. According to the FAO, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, global food waste represents a third of total food produced for consumption, ∼1.6 billion tons per year, which represents a cost of e 730 million/year. The food groups that stand out for their highest percentages of losses are fruits and vegetables, and roots and tubers, both with a 45% loss. It is followed by fish and marine products with 35%, and cereals with 30%. Both food losses and its co-products are very rich sources of nutrients and other bioactive substances that, once extracted, represent very valuable ingredients for the elaboration of functional and nutraceutical foods (among other products). The extraction and isolation of these compounds allow for their use in other sectors (yogurts and dairy products, juices and beverages, energy bars, etc.), as ingredients that favor certain functions when ingesting them.     Para la salvaguarda del patrimonio documental se han puesto en marcha importantes proyectos de digitalización de fondos documentales de numerosas instituciones públicas y privadas de todo el mundo. Ello con dos objetivos: ampliar el acceso libre de dichos fondos a una comunidad de usuarios cada día mayor, y ayudar a la preservación de los documentos originales. Sin embargo, el particular caso de pandemia global producido desde 2020, que ha obligado a una gran parte de la población mundial al confinamiento, e impedido el acceso a los repositorios materiales, nos obliga a una serie de reflexiones con respecto a la viabilidad de los proyectos de desmaterialización de la información, en función de la nueva cotidianeidad.     Los microorganismos del suelo son los responsables de llevar a cabo la mayoría de los procesos biológicos que ocurren en el suelo, y son capaces de reaccionar ante el estrés ambiental. Más de un tercio de los ecosistemas terrestres son semiáridos. Sin embargo, son escasos los estudios realizados para caracterizar las comunidades fúngicas en suelos agrícolas en ecosistemas semiáridos. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue estudiar los cambios que se producen en la biomasa, la diversidad y la estructura de las comunidades fúngicas del suelo, luego de la aplicación de distintas dosis de glifosato en condiciones de campo. Se emplearon diferentes técnicas incluidas el cultivo, la tinción directa con blanco de calcoflúor y PCR acoplada a electroforesis en geles de gradiente desnaturalizante (DGGE). Las distintas metodologías empleadas se complementan entre sí al detectar cada una distintos aspectos del efecto del glifosato en las comunidades fúngicas del suelo. Se encontró que el glifosato produce un efecto negativo sobre la biomasa fúngica, también se encontró un efecto transitorio estimulante inmediatamente posterior a la aplicación del herbicida. Además, se vio un efecto negativo sobre la riqueza de hongos cultivables, así como también cambios en la estructura molecular de las comunidades luego de aplicaciones repetidas. En conclusión, se demostró un efecto negativo generalizado sobre las comunidades fúngicas del suelo. The driving forces behind many soil processes are microorganisms and they are able to respond immediately to environmental changes. The soil microbial community impacts on many soil properties. More than one-third of the terrestrial ecosystems are semiarid. However, a limited number of studies have been conducted to characterize soil fungal communities in semiarid grasslands, in particular those of agricultural fields. The aim of this study was to explore changes in the diversity and structure of soil fungal communities in semiarid grasslands, after different doses of glyphosate were applied under field conditions. Changes in soil fungal communities were examined using different approaches including culturing, calcofluor white stain and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE). The different approaches complement each other, revealing different aspects of the effect of glyphosate on soil fungal communities. We demonstrated a negative effect of glyphosate on soil fungal biomass at high doses and an early and transitory stimulatory effect on soil fungal biomass. We also found a negative effect of glyphosate on the species richness of cultivable fungi and changes in the molecular structure of soil fungal communities after double doses or long-term glyphosate application.     En regiones áridas y semiáridas, la siembra de especies nativas adaptadas localmente puede contribuir a mejorar la productividad forrajera y atenuar la degradación del suelo. Este trabajo investigó los efectos de tres densidades y tres fechas de siembra en la implantación y el establecimiento de Trichloris crinita cv. Chamical-INTA, una gramínea forrajera nativa de zonas áridas, en la región fitogeográfica del Chaco Árido, Argentina. La fecha de siembra influyó significativamente en la densidad de plantas establecidas y cobertura del suelo al final de la época de crecimiento, con siembras en la tercera fecha mostrando incrementos para estas variables de 42‒66% y 16‒38%, respectivamente, comparado con las siembras en la primera y segunda fechas. Contrariamente, las fechas de siembra tardías (segunda y tercera fechas) mostraron valores significativamente menores para todos los parámetros de crecimiento evaluados (p.ej. brotes por planta, altura de planta y porcentaje de floración). La densidad de siembra tuvo un fuerte efecto sobre la densidad final de plantas establecidas, pero no en los parámetros de crecimiento. Las siembras tempranas con densidad intermedia (7.5 kg/ha) tuvieron los mejores resultados en términos de eficacia del establecimiento de la pastura. La siembra temprana resultó en un mayor porcentaje de plantas florecidas al final de la temporada, y las semillas resultantes deberían favorecer el establecimiento de la pastura en la temporada siguiente. A futuro, serán necesarios estudios de largo plazo que monitoreen la supervivencia y densidad de plantas en el tiempo, a fin de determinar si estas prácticas poseen beneficios sostenibles para las pasturas de T. crinita en esta región. In arid regions, revegetation with locally adapted native species can improve forage production and help ameliorate soil degradation. We investigated the effects of 3 sowing dates and 3 sowing rates of Trichloris crinita cv. Chamical-INTA, a perennial forage grass native to arid and semi-arid regions, on pasture establishment parameters in the Argentinian Arid Chaco phytogeographical region. Sowing date significantly influenced plant density and soil coverage at the end of the growing season, with the latest sowing date increasing mean plant density and soil coverage by 42‒66% and 16‒38%, respectively, relative to the 1st and 2nd dates. Conversely, the later sowing dates (2nd and 3rd dates) exhibited significantly lower mean values for all plant growth-related traits, i.e. tillers per plant, plant height and percentage of flowering plants. Sowing rate had a strong effect on plant density at the end of the growing season but not on plant growth parameters. Under the conditions of this study, using intermediate sowing densities (7.5 kg seed/ha) and sowing early in the season, when temperatures were still mild, delivered the best results in terms of pasture density and establishment efficacy. Early sowing resulted in a greater percentage of flowering plants and seed set prior to the first winter frosts, which should ensure ongoing establishment of plants in the next wet season. Longer-term studies to examine the survival of plants and possible increase in plant density over time are necessary to determine if this procedure has sustainable benefits for pastures in the area.     The sustainable development goal #2 aims at ending hunger and malnutrition by 2030. Given the numbers of food insecure and malnourished people on the rise, the heterogeneity of nutritional statuses and needs, and the even worse context of COVID-19 pandemic, this has become an urgent challenge for food-related policies. This paper provides a comprehensive microsimulation approach to evaluate economic policies on food access, sufficiency (energy) and adequacy (protein, fat, carbohydrate) at household level. The improvement in market access conditions in Kenya is simulated as an application case of this method, using original insights from households' surveys and biochemical and nutritional information by food item. Simulation's results suggest that improving market access increases food purchasing power overall the country, with a pro-poor impact in rural areas. The daily energy consumption per capita and macronutrients intakes per capita increase at the national level, being the households with at least one stunted child under 5 years old, and poor households living areas outside Mombasa and Nairobi, those which benefit the most. The developed method and its Kenya's application contribute to the discussion on how to evaluate nutrition-sensitive policies, and how to cover most households suffering food insecurity and nutrition deficiencies in any given country.     The objective of this work was to generate a series of equations to describe the voltinism of Lobesia botrana in the quarantine area of the main winemaking area of Argentina, Mendoza. To do this we considered an average climate scenario and extrapolatedthese equations to other winegrowing areas at risk of being invaded. A grid of 4 km2was used to generate statistics on L. botrana captures and the mean temperature accumulation for the pixel. Four sets of logistic regression were constructed using the percentage of accumulated trap catches/grid/week and the degree-day accumulation above7°C, from 1st July. By means of a habitat model, an extrapolation of the phenologicalmodel generated to other Argentine winemaking areas was evaluated. According to ourresults, it can be expected that 50% of male adult emergence for the first flight occurs at248.79 ± 4 degree-days (DD), in the second flight at 860.18 ± 4.1 DD, while in the thirdand the fourth flights, 1671.34 ± 5.8 DD and 2335.64 ± 4.3 DD, respectively. Subsequentclimatic comparison determined that climatic conditions of uncolonized areas of Cuyo Region have a similar suitability index to the quarantine area used to adjust the phenologicalmodel. The upper valley of Río Negro and Neuquén are environmentally similar. Valleys ofthe northwestern region of Argentina showed lower average suitability index and greatervariability among SI estimated by the algorithm considered. The combination of two models for the estimation of adult emergence time and potential distribution, can provide greater certainties in decision-making and risk assessment of invasive species.     La inclusión de cultivos de cobertura invernales (CCI) en un sistema de siembra directa (SD) en reemplazo del barbecho constituye una alternativa promisoria para mejorar la salud del suelo y contribuir a la sustentabilidad ambiental de los sistemas agrícolas. Esta revisión ofrece un panorama integral de los efectos sobre el microbioma del suelo que tiene la introducción de CCI en rotación con cultivos de verano en sistemas de SD vs. el barbecho desnudo. Se realizó una búsqueda sistemática de la literatura que reporta los efectos de los CCI sobre los parámetros de abundancia, actividad y diversidad microbiana del suelo. Combinando 7 criterios de búsqueda se seleccionaron y analizaron 22 trabajos. El conjunto de resultados de esos trabajos muestra que la actividad enzimática del suelo se ve favorecida con la inclusión de CCI en la rotación, principalmente si estos se componen de leguminosas y mezclas de especies. Más de la mitad de esos trabajos reportan una mayor biomasa microbiana con CCI que con barbecho. Además, se advierte que los efectos de los CCI sobre los parámetros microbianos son independientes de la duración de los ensayos. Sin embargo, aún se necesitan más investigaciones básicas que permitan reducir la heterogeneidad entre estudios y comprender las complejas interacciones que ocurren entre los CCI y el microbioma del suelo. The inclusion of winter cover crops (WCC) in no-till (NT) systems in replacement of bare fallow is a promising alternative to improve soil health and consequently, contribute to environmental sustainability of agricultural systems. This review provides a comprehensive evaluation of the effects of the use of WCC in rotation with summer cash crops under NT systems on the soil microbiome versus bare fallows. A systematic literature search was conducted to evaluate the impact of WCC on microbial parameters indicative of abundance, activity and diversity. Twenty-two papers were selected based on seven combined criteria. The results of this review show that enzyme activities in soil are enhanced with the inclusion of WCC in the rotation, particularly those that include legumes and mix of species. In general, more than half of the analyzed papers report higher microbial biomass in soils with WCC than in bare fallow. Interestingly, the effects of WCC on microbial parameters are independent of the duration of the experiments. However, more basic research is necessary to reduce the heterogeneity of the studies and to better understand the complexity of the interactions between WCC and the soil microbiome.     Mineralization studies are the first step in determining the usefulness of an amendment such as fertilizer, and are essential to creating guidelines for dairy waste management to help producers make informed decisions. Our goal was to assess the effects of dairy raw, composted, and digested manure amendments on C, N, and P mineralization to evaluate the feasibility of their in-farm production and use as organic fertilizers. The liquid and solid fractions of dairy effluent (LDE, SDE), dairy effluent digestate (DED), onion–cattle manure digestate and compost (OCMD, OCMC) were characterized by chemical and spectroscopic methods. Soil microcosms with LDE, SDE, DED, OCMD and OCMC and the C, N and P mineralization were determined periodically. Elemental and structural differences among amendments led to contrasting profiles of C, N, and P mineralization, and thus to differences in nutrient availability, immobilization, and CO2 emission. All processed materials were more stable than untreated waste, reducing C emissions. Digestates showed net C immobilization, and supplied the highest levels of available N, creating a relative P deficit. Instead, the compost supplied N and P via mineralization, producing a relative P excess. Future studies should aim at evaluating fertilization strategies that combine both kinds of amendments, to exploit their complimentary agronomic characteristics.     The production of tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) in Argentina is centered in the northwestern region (NWA), where the incidence of root rots and stem diseases caused by Fusarium spp. has increased considerably in recent years. This study aimed to evaluate the pathogenicity levels of isolates of the F. oxysporum and F. solani complexes in different varieties of Virginia Type tobacco. The commercial varieties MB47, PVH229, NC71, K346, K326, and K394 were inoculated with six isolates of both complexes. The variables evaluated were the incidence and severity of the symptoms. The area under the disease progress curves (AUDPC) was calculated and subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA). Also, disease epidemiological models were fitted to the experimental data. The MB47 variety was significantly less infected and the varieties K346, K326, and K394 had the highest AUDPC means, showing susceptibility to the isolates. The disease intensity curves were adequately described by the monomolecular and logistic models. The results provide, for the first time, information about the levels of tolerance to vascular wilt and root rot under controlled conditions for the main varieties of Virginia-type tobacco grown in NWA. La producción de Tabaco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) en Argentina se concentra en la Región Noroeste (NOA), donde la incidencia de las enfermedades radiculares y de tallo causadas por Fusarium spp. han aumentado en los últimos años. Este estudio, tuvo como objetivo evaluar los niveles de patogenicidad de aislamientos de los complejos F. oxysporum y F. solani en diferentes variedades de tabaco tipo Virginia. Las variedades evaluadas fueron: MB47, PVH229, NC71, K346, K326 y K394 que se inocularon con seis aislamientos de ambos complejos. Las variables evaluadas fueron incidencia (I) y severidad (S). Se calculó el área bajo las curvas de progreso de la enfermedad (ABCPE) y se sometió a análisis de varianza (ANOVA). Además, se ajustaron los datos experimentales a modelos epidemiológicos del proceso de enfermedad. La variedad MB47 resultó significativamente menos infectada y las variedades K346, K326, K394 presentaron los valores de ABCPE más altos, mostrando un comportamiento susceptible. Las curvas de intensidad de la enfermedad se descri-bieron adecuadamente mediante los modelos monomolecular y logístico.     Salinity is a major detrimental factor for plant growth and crop productivity that could be alleviated by the use of plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB) with a protective role in such stressful conditions. In this study, four native strains of the genus Pseudomonas were isolated from both a strongly saline soil and the rhizosphere of soybean plants grown in a slightly saline soil. These isolates were able to tolerate high NaCl concentration, showed efficient adhesion to biotic and abiotic surfaces and efficiently colonized the rhizosphere of soybean grown in slightly saline soil. In these conditions, the four strains outperformed Pseudomonas putida KT2440, a strain known as a good root colonizer of different plants. Inoculation with all the isolates improved seed germination and vigor index, particularly in saline conditions, and one of them also had a positive effect on shoot length and phenological state of soybean plants grown in slightly saline soil. Our results suggest that the search for classical plant growth promotion traits may not be mandatory for selecting putative PGPB. Instead, characteristics such as stress tolerance, adhesion, competitive colonization, and plant growth promotion should be tested using the soil types and crops in which the bacteria will be used.     According to the report on the World State of Food and Agriculture 2019, progress in the fight against food loss and waste, and the reduction of food loss, help to improve the sustainability of the environment, while the reduction of waste benefits food security. According to the FAO, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, global food waste represents a third of total food produced for consumption, ∼1.6 billion tons per year, which represents a cost of e 730 million/year. The food groups that stand out for their highest percentages of losses are fruits and vegetables, and roots and tubers, both with a 45% loss. It is followed by fish and marine products with 35%, and cereals with 30%. Both food losses and its co-products are very rich sources of nutrients and other bioactive substances that, once extracted, represent very valuable ingredients for the elaboration of functional and nutraceutical foods (among other products). The extraction and isolation of these compounds allow for their use in other sectors (yogurts and dairy products, juices and beverages, energy bars, etc.), as ingredients that favor certain functions when ingesting them.     Para la salvaguarda del patrimonio documental se han puesto en marcha importantes proyectos de digitalización de fondos documentales de numerosas instituciones públicas y privadas de todo el mundo. Ello con dos objetivos: ampliar el acceso libre de dichos fondos a una comunidad de usuarios cada día mayor, y ayudar a la preservación de los documentos originales. Sin embargo, el particular caso de pandemia global producido desde 2020, que ha obligado a una gran parte de la población mundial al confinamiento, e impedido el acceso a los repositorios materiales, nos obliga a una serie de reflexiones con respecto a la viabilidad de los proyectos de desmaterialización de la información, en función de la nueva cotidianeidad. En este trabajo presentamos el proyecto ARTEFAC (ARchivar, TiErra del Fuego según Anne Chapman), que concierne a un tipo particular de patrimonio documental, lo que denominamos los archivos de la ciencia, a partir del ejemplo de los archivos de la investigadora Anne Chapman (1922-2010), quien dedicó gran parte de su vida a la investigación sobre los pueblos originarios del extremo sur americano.     Los microorganismos del suelo son los responsables de llevar a cabo la mayoría de los procesos biológicos que ocurren en el suelo, y son capaces de reaccionar ante el estrés ambiental. Más de un tercio de los ecosistemas terrestres son semiáridos. Sin embargo, son escasos los estudios realizados para caracterizar las comunidades fúngicas en suelos agrícolas en ecosistemas semiáridos. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue estudiar los cambios que se producen en la biomasa, la diversidad y la estructura de las comunidades fúngicas del suelo, luego de la aplicación de distintas dosis de glifosato en condiciones de campo. Se emplearon diferentes técnicas incluidas el cultivo, la tinción directa con blanco de calcoflúor y PCR acoplada a electroforesis en geles de gradiente desnaturalizante (DGGE). Las distintas metodologías empleadas se complementan entre sí al detectar cada una distintos aspectos del efecto del glifosato en las comunidades fúngicas del suelo. Se encontró que el glifosato produce un efecto negativo sobre la biomasa fúngica, también se encontró un efecto transitorio estimulante inmediatamente posterior a la aplicación del herbicida. Además, se vio un efecto negativo sobre la riqueza de hongos cultivables, así como también cambios en la estructura molecular de las comunidades luego de aplicaciones repetidas. En conclusión, se demostró un efecto negativo generalizado sobre las comunidades fúngicas del suelo. The driving forces behind many soil processes are microorganisms and they are able to respond immediately to environmental changes. The soil microbial community impacts on many soil properties. More than one-third of the terrestrial ecosystems are semiarid. However, a limited number of studies have been conducted to characterize soil fungal communities in semiarid grasslands, in particular those of agricultural fields. The aim of this study was to explore changes in the diversity and structure of soil fungal communities in semiarid grasslands, after different doses of glyphosate were applied under field conditions. Changes in soil fungal communities were examined using different approaches including culturing, calcofluor white stain and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE). The different approaches complement each other, revealing different aspects of the effect of glyphosate on soil fungal communities. We demonstrated a negative effect of glyphosate on soil fungal biomass at high doses and an early and transitory stimulatory effect on soil fungal biomass. We also found a negative effect of glyphosate on the species richness of cultivable fungi and changes in the molecular structure of soil fungal communities after double doses or long-term glyphosate application.     En regiones áridas y semiáridas, la siembra de especies nativas adaptadas localmente puede contribuir a mejorar la productividad forrajera y atenuar la degradación del suelo. Este trabajo investigó los efectos de tres densidades y tres fechas de siembra en la implantación y el establecimiento de Trichloris crinita cv. Chamical-INTA, una gramínea forrajera nativa de zonas áridas, en la región fitogeográfica del Chaco Árido, Argentina. La fecha de siembra influyó significativamente en la densidad de plantas establecidas y cobertura del suelo al final de la época de crecimiento, con siembras en la tercera fecha mostrando incrementos para estas variables de 42‒66% y 16‒38%, respectivamente, comparado con las siembras en la primera y segunda fechas. Contrariamente, las fechas de siembra tardías (segunda y tercera fechas) mostraron valores significativamente menores para todos los parámetros de crecimiento evaluados (p.ej. brotes por planta, altura de planta y porcentaje de floración). La densidad de siembra tuvo un fuerte efecto sobre la densidad final de plantas establecidas, pero no en los parámetros de crecimiento. Las siembras tempranas con densidad intermedia (7.5 kg/ha) tuvieron los mejores resultados en términos de eficacia del establecimiento de la pastura. La siembra temprana resultó en un mayor porcentaje de plantas florecidas al final de la temporada, y las semillas resultantes deberían favorecer el establecimiento de la pastura en la temporada siguiente. A futuro, serán necesarios estudios de largo plazo que monitoreen la supervivencia y densidad de plantas en el tiempo, a fin de determinar si estas prácticas poseen beneficios sostenibles para las pasturas de T. crinita en esta región. In arid regions, revegetation with locally adapted native species can improve forage production and help ameliorate soil degradation. We investigated the effects of 3 sowing dates and 3 sowing rates of Trichloris crinita cv. Chamical-INTA, a perennial forage grass native to arid and semi-arid regions, on pasture establishment parameters in the Argentinian Arid Chaco phytogeographical region. Sowing date significantly influenced plant density and soil coverage at the end of the growing season, with the latest sowing date increasing mean plant density and soil coverage by 42‒66% and 16‒38%, respectively, relative to the 1st and 2nd dates. Conversely, the later sowing dates (2nd and 3rd dates) exhibited significantly lower mean values for all plant growth-related traits, i.e. tillers per plant, plant height and percentage of flowering plants. Sowing rate had a strong effect on plant density at the end of the growing season but not on plant growth parameters. Under the conditions of this study, using intermediate sowing densities (7.5 kg seed/ha) and sowing early in the season, when temperatures were still mild, delivered the best results in terms of pasture density and establishment efficacy. Early sowing resulted in a greater percentage of flowering plants and seed set prior to the first winter frosts, which should ensure ongoing establishment of plants in the next wet season. Longer-term studies to examine the survival of plants and possible increase in plant density over time are necessary to determine if this procedure has sustainable benefits for pastures in the area.     The sustainable development goal #2 aims at ending hunger and malnutrition by 2030. Given the numbers of food insecure and malnourished people on the rise, the heterogeneity of nutritional statuses and needs, and the even worse context of COVID-19 pandemic, this has become an urgent challenge for food-related policies. This paper provides a comprehensive microsimulation approach to evaluate economic policies on food access, sufficiency (energy) and adequacy (protein, fat, carbohydrate) at household level. The improvement in market access conditions in Kenya is simulated as an application case of this method, using original insights from households' surveys and biochemical and nutritional information by food item. Simulation's results suggest that improving market access increases food purchasing power overall the country, with a pro-poor impact in rural areas. The daily energy consumption per capita and macronutrients intakes per capita increase at the national level, being the households with at least one stunted child under 5 years old, and poor households living areas outside Mombasa and Nairobi, those which benefit the most. The developed method and its Kenya's application contribute to the discussion on how to evaluate nutrition-sensitive policies, and how to cover most households suffering food insecurity and nutrition deficiencies in any given country.
