    Internet of things (IoT) devices and applications are on the rise, generating large amounts of sensitive and confidential data that need to be processed securely. Due to resource constraints, the data generated is often stored and processed in the cloud. The drawback of data cloud storage and processing is the fact that it can be hacked, leaked, or sold by cloud companies. Fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) allows computation on encrypted data using basic mathematical operations and has recently been successfully implemented using schemes and libraries with better performance. In this paper, the authors propose a mixture of edge-cloud-based security schemes using FHE to secure IoT data. The authors evaluate the performance of two FHE schemes (BFV and CKKS) based on data: encoding speed, encryption speed, arithmetic operations (addition and multiplication) speed, and decryption decoding speed using two Python libraries (TenSEAL and PyFHEl). The encryption and decryption are done at the edge node using a Raspberry Pi 4, while the processing is done at the cloud node using a laptop.

    The present work aims to evaluate the influence of varieties and malting conditions on the liquefying and sweetening capacities of germinated flours of two new maize varieties (Atp-Y and Coca-sr). Five (5) factors such as soaking time (18–42 h), vegetable salt concentration (0.5–1.2%), soaking temperature (25–41°C), germination time (80–195 h) and maturation time (17.5–42 h) were used to potentiate the liquefying and sweetening capacities of the two flours. The dehulled flours of the two maize varieties were also used as a substrate for the evaluation of these responses. The optimal flours were then subjected to physicochemical analysis. From these analyses, it follows that the responses were affected (p < 0.05) by the malting conditions, the variety of germinated flours and the variety of substrate flours. Overall, the sprouted flours respectively from the Coca-sr variety showed the highest liquefying (190 and 282.50 mm/30 s on the gruels from the Atp-Y and Coca-sr dehulled flours) and sweetening (7193.10 and 8735.63 mg/100 mL on the gruels from the Atp-Y and Coca-sr dehulled flours) potential of the two dehulled flours. A positive correlation was observed between the sweetening and liquefying potential of the germinated flours. The combination of these different flours (malted and dehulled flours) allowed to potentiate the responses up to 3.5 times compared to the previous data. The optimal conditions obtained in this study could be applied to reduce the energy and nutrient deficiency and improve the fluidity of infant formula.

    Societal Impact StatementCrop seed exchange networks, shaped by social dynamics, strongly influence the organization and breadth of plant diversity in human‐managed environments. Integrating an urban and market perspective, this study explores the diversity dynamics of a socio‐economically important Central African fruit tree species, the African plum tree. Tree owners in urban, peri‐urban and rural sites use seeds from different origins as their main propagation material, leading to locational variations in genetic diversity and structure. This analysis contributes toward building a framework to inform the research agenda of cultivated African fruit trees, by highlighting the important role of urban centers in safeguarding crop genetic resources.Summary Biocultural factors constrain the dynamics of crop species diversity. Here, we considered different aspects of the social, spatial and temporal dynamics of morphological and genetic diversity in a multi‐purpose perennial crop, the African plum tree (Dacryodes edulis). We assessed (i) how seed exchange networks were organized along urbanization gradients, and how they influenced the distribution of species diversity; (ii) the temporal dynamic of seed exchange network by characterizing species genetic diversity through time. To do so, the study was carried out in Cameroon, where we focused on three urbanization gradients, covering urban, peri‐urban and rural areas, corresponding to three different ethnic groups (Bamileke, Bassa, Beti). We combined interviews with tree owners and nuclear microsatellite‐based genetic analyses. Tree owners from urban and peri‐urban sites primarily used distant seed sources, acquired in the market or from their village of origin, as propagation material, whereas tree owners in rural sites relied primarily on village‐level seeds. In turn, genetic diversity was not evenly distributed, with rural sites exhibiting their own genetic clusters. On the contrary, the genetic diversity of urban sites was enhanced by extensive human‐mediated seed flows. Looking at trees from different age classes, we found that genetic diversity was stable over time. Overall, this first attempt to combine different levels of diversity for African plum trees in commercially connected areas expands the scope for in situ intraspecific conservation by highlighting the contribution of urbanized areas.

    The construction of sustainable road and highway networks in the world, despite numerous feasibility, pre-feasibility and execution studies, are always confronted with the demands and vagaries of foreseeable and unforeseeable natural disasters. Studying cyclones, earthquakes, fracturing and landslide zones along roads is therefore a challenge for the sustainability of these infrastructures. In many countries around the world, the methods generally used for these studies are not only expensive and time-consuming, but also the results obtained are not always efficient. This work examines whether Landsat 8 (with a high cloud level) and SRTM data can be used in both equatorial and coastal Central Africa zones to produce relevant mapping, locating fracture and landslide zones, in order to contribute not only to a better road layout at lower cost and in a relatively short time, but also to a better prevention of geological disasters that may occur on its network. To this end, a map of the main road network was produced and validated with field data, as well as the maps of the main unstable slopes, faults and fractures zones intersecting the road or highway network. These approaches are useful for sustainable planning, management, monitoring and extension of roads worldwide, especially in Central Africa.

    In Benin, synthetic insecticides are the main pest control option used by farmers to protect and enhance their production. However, failures to control the target pests are often observed after application and may be related to agricultural practices or insecticide quality. The present work was designed to assess a rapid, simple, and reliable analytical method for detecting and quantifying the most commonly used insecticides (λ-cyhalothrin and acetamiprid) in Benin. The analytical standard technical grade separation was performed by gradient reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography on a C18 stationary-phase column. The mobile phase consisted of a mixture of acetonitrile/water using a gradient flow. The flow rates were 1 and 1.4 mL·min−1 for λ-cyhalothrin and acetamiprid, respectively. The analysis times were 15 and 20 min, with retention times of 2.35 and 7.94 min for λ-cyhalothrin and acetamiprid, respectively. Results reveal that most of the surveyed farmers were not educated (70% < Primary School Certificate) and were men (95%). Of the main insecticides applied by farmers, λ-cyhalothrin and acetamiprid were found to be the most technical-grade ones. Furthermore, the analysis of insecticides showed that the concentrations obtained in our study often differed from the ones mentioned on insecticide labels. The proposed method is useful for quantifying insecticides in various technical and commercial formulations with little interference from additives.

    AbstractPlant growth‐promoting rhizobacteria enhances nutritional availability during root colonization. Pseudomonas is the most popular bioinoculant due to its synergistic effects on plant development. This study evaluated the impact of four Pseudomonas strain substrate inoculations on tomato phenology, yield, and selected phytochemical components relevant to human health. The bacterial isolates have been characterized morphologically, biochemically, physiologically, and phylogenetically. Tomato plants on cocopeat substrate were inoculated individually with a bacterial suspension (optical density [OD]600 2.0). Controls included nitrogen–phosphate–potassium (NPK) fertilizer and tap water. The greenhouse experiment was laid out in a completely randomized design with five replications. Data were taken 30, 60, 90, and 120 days after inoculation. All four bacterial isolates could fix nitrogen, solubilize phosphate, and potassium and synthesize indole acetic acid in vitro. The 16S rRNA of the strains BF1P2‐6, BF2P1‐2, BF2P5‐1, and BF4P2‐5 were identified as Pseudomonas putida Y22, Pseudomonas taiwanensis GDLB‐32, Pseudomonas monteilii Bil‐NOR3_15, and Pseudomonas fluorescens Y5, respectively. The strains grew best at pH 7, NaCl 0.0%, and 35°C. Inoculated tomato plants tested over a period of 4 months in a greenhouse showed a significant increase in growth, leaf variables, and yield attributes. Pseudomonas‐inoculated plants were the highest in tannins (46.96 mg/100 g), followed by lycopene (45.57 mg/100 g) and Carotenoids (31.87 mg/100 g). The antioxidant activity of tomato fruit extracts showed the potential for free radicals scavenging activity against 2, 2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl. Conditions such as pH and electrical conductivity for the cocopeat substrate were within acceptable limits. Bacterial strains and NPK increased cocopeat nitrogen, phosphate, and potassium bioavailability. This study reveals that Pseudomonas strains improve plant growth, yield, and health‐related phytochemical substances in tomato fruits, which could broaden their application in fruit and vegetable crops.

    Sub-Saharan Africa is facing an expected doubling of human population and tripling of food demand over the next quarter century, posing a range of severe environmental, political, and socio-economic challenges. In some cases, key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are in direct conflict, raising difficult policy and funding decisions, particularly in relation to trade-offs between food production, social inequality, and ecosystem health. In this study, we used a horizon-scanning approach to identify 100 practical or research-focused questions that, if answered, would have the greatest positive impact on addressing these trade-offs and ensuring future productivity and resilience of food-production systems across sub-Saharan Africa. Through direct canvassing of opinions, we obtained 1339 questions from 331 experts based in 55 countries. We then used online voting and participatory workshops to produce a final list of 100 questions divided into 12 thematic sections spanning topics from gender inequality to technological adoption and climate change. Using data on the background of respondents, we show that perspectives and priorities can vary, but they are largely consistent across different professional and geographical contexts. We hope these questions provide a template for establishing new research directions and prioritising funding decisions in sub-Saharan Africa.

    The Wadi Samra–Wadi Kid district in southeastern Sinai, Egypt, has undergone extensive investigation involving remote sensing analysis, field geology studies, petrography, and geochemistry. The main aim of this study is the integration between remote sensing applications, fieldwork, and laboratory studies for accurate lithological mapping for future mineral exploration in the study region. The field relationships between these coincident rocks were studied in the study area. Landsat-8 (OLI) data that cover the investigated area were used in this paper. The different rock units in the study area were studied petrographically using a polarizing microscope, in addition to major and trace analysis using ICP-OES tools. The Operational Land Imager (OLI) images were used with several processing methods, such as false color composite (FCC), band ratio (BR), principal component analysis (PCA), and minimum noise fraction (MNF) techniques for detecting the different types of rock units in the Wadi Kid district. This district mainly consists of a volcano-sedimentary sequence as well as diorite, gabbro, granite, and albitite. Geochemically, the metasediments are classified as pelitic graywackes derived from sedimentary origin (i.e., shales). The Al2O3 and CaO contents are medium–high, while the Fe2O3 and TiO2 contents are very low. Alkaline minerals are relatively low–medium in content. All of the metasediment samples are characterized by high MgO contents and low SiO2, Fe2O3, and CaO contents. The granitic rocks appear to have alkaline and subalkaline affinity, while the subalkaline granites are high-K calc-alkaline to shoshonite series. The alkaline rocks are classified as albitite, while the calc-alkaline series samples vary from monzodiorites to granites. The outcomes of this study can be used for prospecting metallic and industrial mineral exploration in the Wadi Kid district.

    System of Rice Intensification (SRI) practices are expected to be used in location-specific ways and thus will vary somewhat across countries and regions. This study undertook to identify a ‘best-bet’ version of SRI for conditions in northwestern Nigeria, considering what is feasible for farmer use. Two years of experimental data from 260 farmer-managed rice plots evaluating four of the SRI practices in Zamfara State were analyzed. The variables evaluated were seedling age at transplanting, plant density, irrigation schedule, and fertilizer application. Farm budget analysis showed that the best-bet SRI practices most productive given the natural environment and farming system were transplanting 11-day-old seedlings at 25 cm × 25 cm spacing, with alternate wetting-and-drying of fields, as well as providing full compost plus some inorganic fertilization. Net economic returns were found to be highest with best-bet SRI practices and ranged from USD 1450–2120 ha−1. While rice production was profitable under both SRI and more conventional management, the return on investment was at least 40% higher with SRI practices than with the other practices evaluated. Based on our data and analysis, we recommend that the Nigerian government and its development partners prioritize and expand the testing and promotion of SRI in the northwest and other regions of the country. This initiative can significantly enhance farmers’ incomes and, ultimately, bolster food security.

    Publications associated with the incidence of respiratory diseases in light of the COVID-19 pandemic have skyrocketed. Using bibliometric analysis, this study assessed the characteristics of published articles regarding non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) on other respiratory infections during the COVID-19 pandemic. On July 06, 2023, a systematic review of literature on the incidence of respiratory diseases was conducted using the Scopus database. VOS viewer software was used to visualize the network. This study yielded a total of 910 articles, which were eventually narrowed down to 148 articles. The findings of the bibliometric analysis revealed a trend in research that included not only the investigation of the incidence of other respiratory diseases but also that of gastrointestinal infections during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of the research output was created by American and Chinese authors. Kim J. H. was the most productive and cited researcher, with three research articles. There is a scarcity of data on the effectiveness of NPI in preventing the spread of other respiratory diseases among various age groups, including children, adults, and vulnerable populations. Countries should consider increasing their support for COVID-19 research, to generate knowledge pertaining to NPIs and, by extension, other infectious diseases with similar transmission mechanisms.

    Internet of things (IoT) devices and applications are on the rise, generating large amounts of sensitive and confidential data that need to be processed securely. Due to resource constraints, the data generated is often stored and processed in the cloud. The drawback of data cloud storage and processing is the fact that it can be hacked, leaked, or sold by cloud companies. Fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) allows computation on encrypted data using basic mathematical operations and has recently been successfully implemented using schemes and libraries with better performance. In this paper, the authors propose a mixture of edge-cloud-based security schemes using FHE to secure IoT data. The authors evaluate the performance of two FHE schemes (BFV and CKKS) based on data: encoding speed, encryption speed, arithmetic operations (addition and multiplication) speed, and decryption decoding speed using two Python libraries (TenSEAL and PyFHEl). The encryption and decryption are done at the edge node using a Raspberry Pi 4, while the processing is done at the cloud node using a laptop.

    The present work aims to evaluate the influence of varieties and malting conditions on the liquefying and sweetening capacities of germinated flours of two new maize varieties (Atp-Y and Coca-sr). Five (5) factors such as soaking time (18–42 h), vegetable salt concentration (0.5–1.2%), soaking temperature (25–41°C), germination time (80–195 h) and maturation time (17.5–42 h) were used to potentiate the liquefying and sweetening capacities of the two flours. The dehulled flours of the two maize varieties were also used as a substrate for the evaluation of these responses. The optimal flours were then subjected to physicochemical analysis. From these analyses, it follows that the responses were affected (p < 0.05) by the malting conditions, the variety of germinated flours and the variety of substrate flours. Overall, the sprouted flours respectively from the Coca-sr variety showed the highest liquefying (190 and 282.50 mm/30 s on the gruels from the Atp-Y and Coca-sr dehulled flours) and sweetening (7193.10 and 8735.63 mg/100 mL on the gruels from the Atp-Y and Coca-sr dehulled flours) potential of the two dehulled flours. A positive correlation was observed between the sweetening and liquefying potential of the germinated flours. The combination of these different flours (malted and dehulled flours) allowed to potentiate the responses up to 3.5 times compared to the previous data. The optimal conditions obtained in this study could be applied to reduce the energy and nutrient deficiency and improve the fluidity of infant formula.

    Societal Impact StatementCrop seed exchange networks, shaped by social dynamics, strongly influence the organization and breadth of plant diversity in human‐managed environments. Integrating an urban and market perspective, this study explores the diversity dynamics of a socio‐economically important Central African fruit tree species, the African plum tree. Tree owners in urban, peri‐urban and rural sites use seeds from different origins as their main propagation material, leading to locational variations in genetic diversity and structure. This analysis contributes toward building a framework to inform the research agenda of cultivated African fruit trees, by highlighting the important role of urban centers in safeguarding crop genetic resources.Summary Biocultural factors constrain the dynamics of crop species diversity. Here, we considered different aspects of the social, spatial and temporal dynamics of morphological and genetic diversity in a multi‐purpose perennial crop, the African plum tree (Dacryodes edulis). We assessed (i) how seed exchange networks were organized along urbanization gradients, and how they influenced the distribution of species diversity; (ii) the temporal dynamic of seed exchange network by characterizing species genetic diversity through time. To do so, the study was carried out in Cameroon, where we focused on three urbanization gradients, covering urban, peri‐urban and rural areas, corresponding to three different ethnic groups (Bamileke, Bassa, Beti). We combined interviews with tree owners and nuclear microsatellite‐based genetic analyses. Tree owners from urban and peri‐urban sites primarily used distant seed sources, acquired in the market or from their village of origin, as propagation material, whereas tree owners in rural sites relied primarily on village‐level seeds. In turn, genetic diversity was not evenly distributed, with rural sites exhibiting their own genetic clusters. On the contrary, the genetic diversity of urban sites was enhanced by extensive human‐mediated seed flows. Looking at trees from different age classes, we found that genetic diversity was stable over time. Overall, this first attempt to combine different levels of diversity for African plum trees in commercially connected areas expands the scope for in situ intraspecific conservation by highlighting the contribution of urbanized areas.

    The construction of sustainable road and highway networks in the world, despite numerous feasibility, pre-feasibility and execution studies, are always confronted with the demands and vagaries of foreseeable and unforeseeable natural disasters. Studying cyclones, earthquakes, fracturing and landslide zones along roads is therefore a challenge for the sustainability of these infrastructures. In many countries around the world, the methods generally used for these studies are not only expensive and time-consuming, but also the results obtained are not always efficient. This work examines whether Landsat 8 (with a high cloud level) and SRTM data can be used in both equatorial and coastal Central Africa zones to produce relevant mapping, locating fracture and landslide zones, in order to contribute not only to a better road layout at lower cost and in a relatively short time, but also to a better prevention of geological disasters that may occur on its network. To this end, a map of the main road network was produced and validated with field data, as well as the maps of the main unstable slopes, faults and fractures zones intersecting the road or highway network. These approaches are useful for sustainable planning, management, monitoring and extension of roads worldwide, especially in Central Africa.

    In Benin, synthetic insecticides are the main pest control option used by farmers to protect and enhance their production. However, failures to control the target pests are often observed after application and may be related to agricultural practices or insecticide quality. The present work was designed to assess a rapid, simple, and reliable analytical method for detecting and quantifying the most commonly used insecticides (λ-cyhalothrin and acetamiprid) in Benin. The analytical standard technical grade separation was performed by gradient reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography on a C18 stationary-phase column. The mobile phase consisted of a mixture of acetonitrile/water using a gradient flow. The flow rates were 1 and 1.4 mL·min−1 for λ-cyhalothrin and acetamiprid, respectively. The analysis times were 15 and 20 min, with retention times of 2.35 and 7.94 min for λ-cyhalothrin and acetamiprid, respectively. Results reveal that most of the surveyed farmers were not educated (70% < Primary School Certificate) and were men (95%). Of the main insecticides applied by farmers, λ-cyhalothrin and acetamiprid were found to be the most technical-grade ones. Furthermore, the analysis of insecticides showed that the concentrations obtained in our study often differed from the ones mentioned on insecticide labels. The proposed method is useful for quantifying insecticides in various technical and commercial formulations with little interference from additives.

    AbstractPlant growth‐promoting rhizobacteria enhances nutritional availability during root colonization. Pseudomonas is the most popular bioinoculant due to its synergistic effects on plant development. This study evaluated the impact of four Pseudomonas strain substrate inoculations on tomato phenology, yield, and selected phytochemical components relevant to human health. The bacterial isolates have been characterized morphologically, biochemically, physiologically, and phylogenetically. Tomato plants on cocopeat substrate were inoculated individually with a bacterial suspension (optical density [OD]600 2.0). Controls included nitrogen–phosphate–potassium (NPK) fertilizer and tap water. The greenhouse experiment was laid out in a completely randomized design with five replications. Data were taken 30, 60, 90, and 120 days after inoculation. All four bacterial isolates could fix nitrogen, solubilize phosphate, and potassium and synthesize indole acetic acid in vitro. The 16S rRNA of the strains BF1P2‐6, BF2P1‐2, BF2P5‐1, and BF4P2‐5 were identified as Pseudomonas putida Y22, Pseudomonas taiwanensis GDLB‐32, Pseudomonas monteilii Bil‐NOR3_15, and Pseudomonas fluorescens Y5, respectively. The strains grew best at pH 7, NaCl 0.0%, and 35°C. Inoculated tomato plants tested over a period of 4 months in a greenhouse showed a significant increase in growth, leaf variables, and yield attributes. Pseudomonas‐inoculated plants were the highest in tannins (46.96 mg/100 g), followed by lycopene (45.57 mg/100 g) and Carotenoids (31.87 mg/100 g). The antioxidant activity of tomato fruit extracts showed the potential for free radicals scavenging activity against 2, 2‐diphenyl‐1‐picrylhydrazyl. Conditions such as pH and electrical conductivity for the cocopeat substrate were within acceptable limits. Bacterial strains and NPK increased cocopeat nitrogen, phosphate, and potassium bioavailability. This study reveals that Pseudomonas strains improve plant growth, yield, and health‐related phytochemical substances in tomato fruits, which could broaden their application in fruit and vegetable crops.

    Sub-Saharan Africa is facing an expected doubling of human population and tripling of food demand over the next quarter century, posing a range of severe environmental, political, and socio-economic challenges. In some cases, key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are in direct conflict, raising difficult policy and funding decisions, particularly in relation to trade-offs between food production, social inequality, and ecosystem health. In this study, we used a horizon-scanning approach to identify 100 practical or research-focused questions that, if answered, would have the greatest positive impact on addressing these trade-offs and ensuring future productivity and resilience of food-production systems across sub-Saharan Africa. Through direct canvassing of opinions, we obtained 1339 questions from 331 experts based in 55 countries. We then used online voting and participatory workshops to produce a final list of 100 questions divided into 12 thematic sections spanning topics from gender inequality to technological adoption and climate change. Using data on the background of respondents, we show that perspectives and priorities can vary, but they are largely consistent across different professional and geographical contexts. We hope these questions provide a template for establishing new research directions and prioritising funding decisions in sub-Saharan Africa.

    The Wadi Samra–Wadi Kid district in southeastern Sinai, Egypt, has undergone extensive investigation involving remote sensing analysis, field geology studies, petrography, and geochemistry. The main aim of this study is the integration between remote sensing applications, fieldwork, and laboratory studies for accurate lithological mapping for future mineral exploration in the study region. The field relationships between these coincident rocks were studied in the study area. Landsat-8 (OLI) data that cover the investigated area were used in this paper. The different rock units in the study area were studied petrographically using a polarizing microscope, in addition to major and trace analysis using ICP-OES tools. The Operational Land Imager (OLI) images were used with several processing methods, such as false color composite (FCC), band ratio (BR), principal component analysis (PCA), and minimum noise fraction (MNF) techniques for detecting the different types of rock units in the Wadi Kid district. This district mainly consists of a volcano-sedimentary sequence as well as diorite, gabbro, granite, and albitite. Geochemically, the metasediments are classified as pelitic graywackes derived from sedimentary origin (i.e., shales). The Al2O3 and CaO contents are medium–high, while the Fe2O3 and TiO2 contents are very low. Alkaline minerals are relatively low–medium in content. All of the metasediment samples are characterized by high MgO contents and low SiO2, Fe2O3, and CaO contents. The granitic rocks appear to have alkaline and subalkaline affinity, while the subalkaline granites are high-K calc-alkaline to shoshonite series. The alkaline rocks are classified as albitite, while the calc-alkaline series samples vary from monzodiorites to granites. The outcomes of this study can be used for prospecting metallic and industrial mineral exploration in the Wadi Kid district.

    System of Rice Intensification (SRI) practices are expected to be used in location-specific ways and thus will vary somewhat across countries and regions. This study undertook to identify a ‘best-bet’ version of SRI for conditions in northwestern Nigeria, considering what is feasible for farmer use. Two years of experimental data from 260 farmer-managed rice plots evaluating four of the SRI practices in Zamfara State were analyzed. The variables evaluated were seedling age at transplanting, plant density, irrigation schedule, and fertilizer application. Farm budget analysis showed that the best-bet SRI practices most productive given the natural environment and farming system were transplanting 11-day-old seedlings at 25 cm × 25 cm spacing, with alternate wetting-and-drying of fields, as well as providing full compost plus some inorganic fertilization. Net economic returns were found to be highest with best-bet SRI practices and ranged from USD 1450–2120 ha−1. While rice production was profitable under both SRI and more conventional management, the return on investment was at least 40% higher with SRI practices than with the other practices evaluated. Based on our data and analysis, we recommend that the Nigerian government and its development partners prioritize and expand the testing and promotion of SRI in the northwest and other regions of the country. This initiative can significantly enhance farmers’ incomes and, ultimately, bolster food security.

    Publications associated with the incidence of respiratory diseases in light of the COVID-19 pandemic have skyrocketed. Using bibliometric analysis, this study assessed the characteristics of published articles regarding non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) on other respiratory infections during the COVID-19 pandemic. On July 06, 2023, a systematic review of literature on the incidence of respiratory diseases was conducted using the Scopus database. VOS viewer software was used to visualize the network. This study yielded a total of 910 articles, which were eventually narrowed down to 148 articles. The findings of the bibliometric analysis revealed a trend in research that included not only the investigation of the incidence of other respiratory diseases but also that of gastrointestinal infections during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most of the research output was created by American and Chinese authors. Kim J. H. was the most productive and cited researcher, with three research articles. There is a scarcity of data on the effectiveness of NPI in preventing the spread of other respiratory diseases among various age groups, including children, adults, and vulnerable populations. Countries should consider increasing their support for COVID-19 research, to generate knowledge pertaining to NPIs and, by extension, other infectious diseases with similar transmission mechanisms.
