The platformisation process with its institutional dimensions: data infrastructures, markets and governance (Poell, Nieborg & van Dijck, 2019) led to new business models and relationships between social, market and political actors. Journalism as an institution has been under question for over a decade or even two (Deuze, 2020) as the news industry is declining. Journalism as a profession strives to retain or regain the people’s trust. With its recent advances artificial intelligence is seen as a threat or a chance for humanity. The AI’s impact on the media and communication sector is open for debate. Is it a threat or an asset for professional practice? At the same time, the hybridisation of communication professions – roughly defined as a mixture of journalistic and public relations and advertising&marketing practices in the digital context – adds new challenges in maintaining a fair and democratic public sphere and ensuring equal access to quality information. Our focus is to foster an open academic debate on broad themes related to the outcomes of digital transformation in contemporary media and communication. We encourage contributions that adhere to the critical sociology perspective.

The analysis encompassed 350 substances and 36 raw primary commodities of plant origin surveyed in the monitoring cycle 2019–2021, carried out in 30 population groups, covering 3 age classes, and 17 EU countries. Probabilistic exposure calculations, for chronic and acute effects, were executed on the occurrence and consumption data by a two‐dimensional procedure, modelling variability and uncertainty. The input data for the prioritsation of chronic and acute exposure risk assessment to pesticide residues and the output data produced are reported in the following annexes: Annex A.1 – Input data for the prioritisation of chronic cumulative risk assessment to pesticide residues;Annex A.2 – Input data for the prioritisation of acute cumulative risk assessment to pesticide residues;Annex B.1 – Output data from the chronic exposure assessment of pesticides that have an EU-agreed health-based guidance value;Annex B.2 – Output data from the chronic exposure assessment of pesticides that have a tentative health-based guidance value;Annex B.3 – Output data from the acute exposure assessment of pesticides that have an EU-agreed health-based guidance value;Annex B.4 – Output data from the acute exposure assessment of pesticides that have a tentative health-basedguidance value;Annex C.1 – Output data from the combined exposure assessment of pesticides that may have chronic effects on theinvestigated target organ systems;Annex C.2 – Output data from the combined exposure assessment of pesticides that may have acute effects on theinvestigated target organ systems Detailed information on methodology, results and conclusions are included in the full report 'Prioritisation of pesticides and target organ systems for dietary cumulative risk assessment based on the 2019–2021 monitoring cycle', DOI: 10.2903/j.efsa.2024.8554. This international day was launched for the first time in 2003 and since then, it has become a symbolic date to acknowledge the uniqueness of mountains across the world. As years passed, the predominant vision about mountains as mere “fragile ecosystems” has been increasingly challenged. A new narrative that looks at mountains as territories of opportunity has emerged and is becoming more and more widely accepted. On this special day for mountains, we thus call on policy makers at all levels to acknowledge the contribution of rural, remote and mountain areas to Europe’s green and digital transition, and more particularly the role of communities, who need to see their role fully recognized in this new narrative. We also firmly believe that this transformation towards more sustainable, liveable and future-oriented mountain areas cannot be achieved without women. Women are a key pillar of mountain regions. They are backbone of the family, they often are entrepreneurs, they nurture relations within their own communities and with their younger relatives who have left mountain areas. Women are custodians of traditions and knowledge, but also fighters and drivers of change in the mountains. With this booklet, we thus want to welcome and celebrate this year’s International Mountain Day theme “Women move mountains”. Making a fresh, inclusive narrative for the future of mountains is a small but crucial first step. This publication is the result of a collaboration between the MOVING project, an international and multidisciplinary research project to strengthen the resilience of mountain products value chains, and Euromontana, the European Association of Mountain Areas. This booklet is a compilation of 13 testimonies from women who either live in mountain areas or work to make them more sustainable and futurefocused. Their testimonies unite the voices, narratives, and perspectives of women operating in several fields important to the future of mountains who hail from various mountain ranges in Europe. This booklet also demonstrates how important women's roles are in their communities. It also highlights that mountain women face with similar challenges, and above all, lack of adequate recognition. Lastly, this brochure also looks at the opportunities that women have in mountain areas. Mountains and the women who live in mountainous areas are in a period of transformation. We hope that this booklet will inspire you. Enjoy your reading!
