This thesis covers a research study on the application of a Space technology in the field of Defence & Space. The thesis will elaborate a design study & architecture of a conceptual tool combining Remote Sensing technology with GNSS. The author intends to use this preliminary research thesis and expand on its design study in his doctoral program, a PhD in "Defence & Homeland Security" with a Major in Space Technology. The premise of the design study is based on a conceptual tool as a miniaturized ultrasonic sensing and GNSS mapping tool with satellite communication technology, that could be used as a tool placed in an area of interest and may contribute to gathering strategic information. The device could be used to gather information about the environment, such as terrain, obstacles, and other features, which can be used to create maps and 3D models of the environment. Additionally, the GNSS receiver can be used to determine the location of the device and by extension the location of targets. This thesis will contain a design study, operational scenarios, architectures, the possible errors to be expected, environmental analysis, & conclude with an argument for the risks & benefits associated with this technology. V magistrski nalogi sem digitalizirala pisma dveh slovenskih pesnic Vide Jeraj in Ljudmile Polja-nec, ki sta reprezentativni avtorici slovenske moderne. Obe sta delovali predvsem pred prvo sve-tovno vojno. Prvi del magistrske naloge sem začela s predstavitvijo obeh zgoraj omenjenih avtoric in nadaljevala s predstavitvijo njunih dopisovalk in dopisovalcev. Nato sem prepisala in analizirala njuna pisma. Digitalizirana pisma sem vstavila v elektronsko zbirko Pisma. S pomočjo v pismih omenjenih oseb sem raziskala njuno soci-alno mrežo in dognala, da sta največkrat sodelovali in prijateljevali z osebami s področja kulturne-ga delovanja. In this master’s thesis, I digitalised letters by two Slovenian poets, Vida Jeraj and Ljudmila Pol-janec, who are representative female authors of Slovenian modernism. Both were active especially before the First World War. Vida Jeraj was the first Slovenian female lyrical poet, and Ljudmila Poljanec is considered the first Slovenian female author who portrayed lesbian love in their po-ems. The first part of the master’s thesis presents said authors and continues by presenting their correspondents. I first transcribed and analysed their letters. The letters, once digitalised, were added to the electronic database Pisma. On the basis of the digitalised correspondence, it will be easier to understand the authors’ work. Based on selected keywords, I was able to identify the topics that are discussed in their letters, determining that the most frequently present topics are the following: personal relationship and friendship, culture and art, literary criticism, literary mag-azines, women's magazines, poetry, Vienna, education, health and travelling. In addition, Vida Jeraj also discussed parenthood and life in the countryside. Focusing on the people mentioned in their letters, I was able to study their social network and conclude that, most frequently, they interacted and were friends with people in the field of cultural activities. By comparing the topics discussed in the letters by Vida Jeraj and Ivan Cankar, I concluded that the correspondence of each author differs from one another. In the end, I also studied whether the topics present in their letters also appear in their poems, concluding that they do, with the most frequent topics being the weather, life in the countryside, religion and love.

Protected farm status is a special juridical status assigned to farms which comprise a minimum of 5 and maximum of 100 hectares of comparable agricultural area. The basis for granting the status is a 1995 Law on the inheritance of agricultural holdings. The purpose of protected farm status is to enable the acquirer to take over the farm under such conditions that do not burden him too much and to ensure its economic, social and ecological functions. The main characteristic of protected farms is that it may not be physically divided in the case of inheritance. The ownership of protected farm can be transferred by sale, handover, gift contract, contract of subsistence, lifetime maintenance contract, or gift contract in the event of death. With the inquiry of the owners and future acquirers we researched the characteristics of protected farms, their holders and families who live on and cultivate them. We found out that regarding the opinion of respondents a lot of the protected farm do not allow even one person to survive and that the economic capability is very much dependent on the activity of the farm. The results show that the respondents tend to support the special status of the protected farm. In the light of the analysed case law and literature, a clearer definition of the protected farm is necessary, while the protection of the physical and economic integrity of the farm as a production unit should be regulated in a meaningful and fair way.

The purpose of the study investigates the institution of an exclusive financing model to digitalise South African SMMEs to encompass both the sourcing and the administration of development funds for digitalisation. The SMME 4IR (digitalisation) financing model provides finance for SMMEs digitalisation, especially for e-commerce and operational efficiencies. The need for SMME 4IR financing model is driven by fewer digitalised SMMEs given the increasing share of participation in digital marketplaces. SMMEs' finance is provided for the entire scope of business operations, and there exists no special digitalisation finance. The study employed the convergent parallel mixed methods research (MMR) approach to first, to examine the effect of economic factors on internet usage among the population in South Africa using annual secondary data between 1997 and 2017. The second discovered tech SMMEs in South African business incubators and their potential to digitalise other SMMEs. The last objective developed a model for the digitisation of SMMEs in South Africa. The last two objectives followed a qualitative approach. From the quantitative analysis, the study found long run negative relationship is between SMME and Economy and internet usage while Census/Economy and SMME/ICT Services exhibited long run positive effect on internet usage. The qualitative component explored the digitalisation potential of SMMEs using a sample of Tech SMME, venture capitalist (VC), angel investors, and business incubators' public domain (websites). The study found that tech SMMEs embodied significant potential to digitalise other SMMEs. This potential resides in a network of business incubators with private support, VC firms and angel investors-supported programmes. The SMME 4IR financing model has been proposed to address the need to digitalise SMMEs. This model is a hybrid between a equity-based crowdfunding model, existing tech start-up finance, ICT development funds, alternative (innovative) SME fund generation, and other government initiatives relating to SMMEs and 4IR. Business incubators are suitable to administer funds sourced using the SMME 4IR finance model in partnership with business schools. A partnership has been identified as appropriate to solve the lack of expertise associated with finance designed for SMME digitalisation.

Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Data Science and Advanced Analytics, specialization in Business Analytics Industry 4.0 has been growing within companies and impacting the economy and society, but this has been a more complex challenge for some types of companies. Due to the costs and complexity associated with Industry 4.0 technologies, small and medium enterprises face difficulties in adopting them. This thesis proposes to create a model that gives guidance and simplifies how to implement Industry 4.0 in SMEs with a low-cost perspective. It is intended that this model can be used as a blueprint to design and implement an Industry 4.0 project within a manufactory SME. To create the model, a literature review of the different fields regarding Industry 4.0 were conducted to understand the most suited technologies to leverage within the manufacturing industry and the different use cases where these would be applicable. After the model was built, expert interviews were conducted, and based on the received feedback, the model was tweaked, improved, and validated.

Entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) can colonize plant tissues and serve crops not only as biopesticides but also as biostimulants that promote plant growth and trigger defense mechanisms. In this context, field trial was conducted evaluating two commercial strains of the entomopathogen Beauveria bassiana (Hypocreales: Cordycipitaceae), GHA (Botanigard) and PPRI 5339 (Velifer® ES) and a wild strain (AP0101) isolated from Achaia, Greece. The three strains were investigated in the field for their endophytic effects on melon Cucumis melo (Cucurbitales: Cucurbitaceae) and in particular for their ability to colonize plant tissues, control infestations of sucking insects Aphis gossypii (Hemiptera: Aphididae) and improve plant growth parameters (plant height, number of flowers and fruits). All experimental fungal strains successfully colonized the C. melon plants. A significant decrease in the aphid population was observed in the treated plants compared to the untreated control. As for plant growth, the number of flowers and fruits was significantly increased in plants treated with B. bassiana strains AP0101 and PPRI 5339. Our results clearly indicate that fungal endophytes can efficiently act as dual action agents demonstrating both insecticidal and growth-promoting effects.

Dissertation submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the Degree of Master of Science in Geospatial Technologies Obuasi is one of the major municipalities in southwestern Ghana, Forest resources play a major significant role in the day-to-day activities of the locals due to their high dependency on it. Despite this contribution, the annual rate of current deforestation in Obuasi is about 50 hectares. At this rate the municipality may lose its substantial forest cover completely in the next 25 years. GIS and remote sensing techniques have proven to be efficient ways to monitor forest cover, especially on a large-scale using satellite imagery. In this study, a post-classification comparison change detection algorithm was used to determine the change in forest cover in the 1991-2021 period. The methodology includes a statistical analysis of rainfall and temperature variability for a period of 30years as well as the analysis of perceptions and knowledge of locals on forest modifications. MOLUSCE plugin in QGIS was used to model and generate maps of forest cover and predict future changes in land use/land cover. The land-use/landcover maps showed that between 1991 to 2000 forest areas decline at the rate of 17.1% while another class such as agricultural, built-up, and mining sites has a significant increase of 14%, 4%, and 2% respectively. Between 2000 to 2021, forest areas and agricultural lands decrease from 67% to 60% and 26% to 20% respectively while built-up and mining areas increase from 4% to 12% and 3% to 7% through forest areas remain the dominant landcover class in the area. During the same study period, there was a fluctuation in climatic conditions. Rainfall between 1991 to 2021 has reduced by an amount of 24 mm while temperature has increased to 0.037°C per annum. The majority of the locals believe that cultivated land expansion and mining are the driving forces of forest cover change in the area and the only solutions to these issues are through enrichment planting, and strengthening forest protection laws and mining regulations. Future prediction on forest cover in the area for 2030 map shows that forest areas will be the major contributor of land to other land use/landcover class, henceforth causing it to decline if no intervention is made. These findings can be used to inform conservation and management strategies to mitigate the impact of forest cover change and protect the ecological integrity of forests in the municipality.

Developments in today's information technology are changing many social structures. One of the institutions most affected by this change process is libraries. Increasing use of the internet with the development of technology is an important tool used to access all kinds of information. It has become important for researchers to be able to access information independently of time and place. The innovations brought by Web 2.0 technologies have also caused the expectations of researchers from the library to change and increase. Dynamic libraries based on access have begun to replace traditional libraries. Libraries benefit from technological developments in order to keep the ever-increasing information under control, to provide better service to users, and to do their work accurately and quickly. In this study, the effects of digital transformation in libraries and developments in information technologies on libraries will be evaluated, and the concept of digital library will be explained. Information researhing behaviors of academicians working at Necmettin Erbakan University and their expectations from the library will be examined. Interview, one of the qualitative data collection methods, was used to collect data in the study. Face-to-face interviews were conducted with 19 academicians working in different units at Necmettin Erbakan University. "Content analysis" was used for the analysis of the data, and the data were classified in accordance with the main purpose of the research and content analysis, coded using Maxqda 18 and data analysis was carried out. According to research results, academic staff use the internet mostly for academic purposes and prefer the internet primarily in accessing information. In the research, it has been seen that the positive aspects of digitized libraries are more than the negative aspects. One of the positive aspects of digitized libraries is ease of access. Academic staff generally stated that the library met their expectations. What users expect most from the library is ease of access. Libraries should plan how they can serve to meet the expectations of this user group, based on the profile that has emerged and taking into account the characteristics of academicians, and exhibit a user-centered understanding.
