In order to evaluate the influence of organic and intensive agriculture on the quality of underground and surface water, in this work, river water and groundwater, which were taken from organic and intensive agriculture fields that bordered the studied rivers, were studied, and a comparative analysis of these water samples was performed. This research provides new data that the impact of organic farming on the state of underground water (4–5 m depth) is minimal. Therefore, this data can be useful for promoting the development of ecological agriculture and for the preparation of new environmental legislation. Current economic development, including agriculture, is based on the increasing use of natural resources that causes climate change, deterioration of ecosystems or puts other types of pressure on the environment. Therefore, recognizing that economic well-being must be supported by reducing the negative impact on the natural environment, the idea of environmentally sustainable growth in agriculture and issue of its evaluation methodology have received attention. The most commonly accepted way to assess environmentally sustainable growth in agriculture is based on measures of total factor productivity (TFP) or multifactor productivity (MFP) growth. However, the conventional MFP is not suitable for the assessment of environmentally sustainable growth in agriculture because the indicator does not include environmental variables such as environmental pollution and natural capital. Both scarcities can be overcome by an environmentally adjusted multifactor productivity (EAMFP) indicator. Research object is environmentally sustainable growth in agriculture. Research aim is to theoretically establish the relationship between economic growth and the natural environment, develop a methodology for the assessment of environmentally sustainable growth in agriculture, and conduct an empirical assessment of environmentally sustainable growth in agriculture in the European Union. A methodology for the assessment of environmentally sustainable growth in agriculture has been prepared, integrating environmental variables, using objective statistical data from Economic Accounts for Agriculture and Air Emission Accounts from Eurostat, Faostat, and the FADN database. The obtained results of the empirical study showed that the developed assessment methodology and the cluster analysis of the EU countries allow us to determine the influence of production factors, environmental pollution and technological progress on the real growth of total added value in agriculture. Dabartinis ekonomikos, taip pat ir žemės ūkio, vystymasis grindžiamas vis didėjančiu gamtinių išteklių naudojimu, kuris sukelia klimato kaitos pokyčius, ekosistemų būklės blogėjimą ar kitokį neigiamą poveikį gamtinei aplinkai. Todėl pripažįstant, kad ekonominė gerovė turi būti palaikoma mažinant neigiamą poveikį gamtinei aplinkai, dėmesio sulaukė aplinkos atžvilgiu tvaraus augimo žemės ūkyje idėja ir jos vertinimo metodologijos klausimai. Aplinkos atžvilgiu tvarus augimas žemės ūkyje vertinamas bendro gamybos veiksnių našumo (BGVN) arba daugiaveiksnio našumo (DGVN) rodiklių pagalba. Tačiau įprastas DGVN žemės ūkyje apskaičiavimas, į vertinimą įtraukiant vieną pageidaujamą gamybos rezultatą ir du gamybos veiksnius, ignoruoja gamtinį kapitalą kaip gamybos veiksnį ir neapima nepageidaujamo gamybos rezultato, tokio kaip šiltnamio efektą sukeliančios dujos. Abu šiuos trūkumus leidžia pašalinti su aplinka susietas daugiaveiksnio našumo (ADGVN) rodiklis. Tyrimo objektas – aplinkos atžvilgiu tvarus augimas žemės ūkyje. Tyrimo tikslas – teoriškai pagrindus ekonomikos augimo ir gamtinės aplinkos ryšį, parengti aplinkos atžvilgiu tvaraus augimo žemės ūkyje vertinimo metodiką ir atlikti aplinkos atžvilgiu tvaraus augimo Europos Sąjungos žemės ūkyje empirinį vertinimą. Parengta aplinkos atžvilgiu tvaraus augimo žemės ūkyje vertinimo metodika, integruojanti aplinkos kintamuosius, tam panaudojant objektyvius žemės ūkio ekonominių sąskaitų, aplinkos ekonominių sąskaitų, Faostat ir ŪADT žemės ūkyje statistikos duomenis. Gauti empirinio tyrimo rezultatai parodė, kad sukurta vertinimo metodika ir atlikta ES šalių klasterinė analizė leidžia nustatyti kokią įtaką gamybos veiksniai, aplinkos tarša ir technologinė pažanga daro realiam bendrosios pridėtinės vertės augimui žemės ūkyje.

Authors: Hung, Jason;Hung, Jason; Here researchers have the disposition to engage in the scholarly discourse on how the pandemic adversely influenced individuals' mental health and what remedies should be exercised in response to the mental health challenges. There is a shortage of scholarly discussion about who benefitted from the occurrence of the pandemic. Mancini et al. argued that the pandemic benefitted the social and mental health functioning of a subset of the population, despite the pandemic causing considerable risks of harm to mental health. In this perspective, the author summarizes relevant findings and arguments to present which subsets of the population benefitted at school, at home, and in the workplace during the pandemic. Although COVID-19 is no longer deemed a pandemic, many by-products of the public health crisis, including the encouragement of remote work and studies, remain. In this perspective, by understanding who benefitted from the pandemic and why, the author can evaluate if any public policies formed in response to the pandemic should be kept in the long run in order to maximize individuals' mental health.

Understanding the carrying capacity and the stocking rates of crown lands is critical for the beef industry in the Prairies that relies heavily on these lands for grazing. The overall goal of this study was to examine the current carrying capacities and stocking rates of the crown lands in Manitoba. The main objectives of this study were to i) classify each crown land parcel in the province by land cover type or vegetation type and ii) estimate the carrying capacities and stocking rates of each parcel and compare these to the current stocking rates allowed by the provincial crown land leases. This study used remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS) technologies for land cover monitoring and estimation of carrying capacities and stocking rates. Based on the assessment of remotely sensed land cover inventories, forest and shrubland were found to be the dominant land cover types in the crown lands compared to native and tame grasslands, which are more desirable for grazing due to higher forage quality and palatability. Then, the carrying capacities were estimated from past field surveys that measured forage productivity in different ecoregions of Manitoba. The carrying capacities were used to calculate the stocking rates based on the delineated land cover types within each crown land parcel. Results show that the current stocking rates of the majority of the crown lands were lower than the estimated stocking rates. This suggests that these parcels were being undergrazed compared to the current grazing intensities permitted by the lease contracts. Overall, the forage resources of the crown lands in Manitoba were being undergrazed by -44.64%. This study can contribute to the existing management of crown lands and it also demonstrated the potential of remote sensing technology to improve and expedite land cover monitoring and stocking rate estimation for crown land managers in the future.

In the current context of an increasingly world competitiveness, companies are under constant pressure to respond quickly to changing conditions, be innovative in meeting customer needs and quickly adjust to the market. This implies that companies are agile and that they often make decisions quickly. However, making these decisions requires a large amount of data, information and knowledge. When operating in a global world, information becomes a fundamental resource for the success of a company's business. This fact leads to the acceptance, on the part of company managers, that whoever has good quality, reliable information at the right time, achieves a competitive advantage. On the contrary, lack of information leads to errors and missed opportunities. Thus, the use of Business Intelligence tools by organizations has proved to be an effective choice whenever it is intended to provide information to support decision making. However, the implementation of this type of tools is complex, with potential financial, procedural and structural impacts on organizations. This way, the general objective of this study was to compare two BI platforms, namely Cognos and Power BI and, in turn, to analyze the generated impact in the transition of BI tools in the processes and in the employees of the financial area of a company in the sector of childcare. The methodological approach was a case study where empirical data were collected from different sources, through document analysis, interviews and questionnaires. The results obtained showed that, from a structural point of view, task execution time and greater productivity are the reasons for preferring the use of the new BI tool, and, from a procedural point of view, privacy, the various functionalities and the automation of processes explain the choice to use the new tool.
