    Authors: Bårdseng, Gina Ørslien;

    Forest management have changed throughout the years. At the start, the main focus for utilizing forest resources was on big timber dimensions - high-grading, which later was obtained through more systematic irregular shelterwood cutting, small clearfelling strips and small-scale group-selection cuts. Later, the strategies evolved to large-scale clearcuts and targeted reforestation of the clearcuts. To look further into this development, I have mapped every clearcut in Varaldskogen (Kongsvinger municipality) from 1945-2016 using aerial photos. I have looked into the development of number of clearcuts, average size of the clearcuts, logged area within the different time periods and in total, and lastly how many times the same area have been logged. The main part of this work has been looking into Varaldskogen's old and rich forest management history. My results show that the clearcuts were smaller between 1945-1953 with an average size of 15,7 daa, and biggest in the period between 1953-1967 with an average size of 145,2 daa. The cumulative area with clearcuts was 66% of the total area. The frequent use of small clear-cuts in the first period was mainly because of the lack of mechanization, while the bigger clearcuts in the next period was mainly because of greater activity of newly built forest roads which made a lot more previously unavailable forest available together with more mechanization. Skogbehandlingen har gjennom tiden endret seg fra å være et høstingsskogbruk med fokus på hogst av store dimensjoner til hogstformer som bledningshogst, gruppehogst og stripehogst. Videre gikk det fram mot et bestandsskogbruk der bruk av snauflatehogst og målrettet foryngelse dominerte. For å se nærmere på utviklingen har jeg i denne studien kartlagt avvirkning i form av åpne hogstformer på Varaldskogen i Kongsvinger i perioden fra 1945-2016 ved hjelp av flybilder. Dette har blitt undersøkt ved å se på utviklingen i antall avvirkede flater, gjennomsnittsstørrelsen på flatene, avvirket areal innenfor de ulike periodene, samt hvor mange ganger arealet hadde blitt hogd. Store deler av arbeidet har også handlet om å belyse Varaldskogens gamle historie. Mine resultater viser at hogstflatene var minst i perioden 1945-1953 med en gjennomsnittlig flatestørrelse på 15,7 daa, og størst i perioden 1953-1967 med en gjennomsnittlig flatestørrelse på 145,2 daa. Det kumulative avvirkede skogarealet var på totalt 66% i 2016. Mange og små flatehogster i perioden 1945-1953 kommer av at mekaniseringen ikke hadde kommet ordentlig i gang, mens de store flatene i perioden 1953-1967 skyldes at det hadde blitt bygd ut en del veier som gjorde at skog som ikke hadde vært tilgjengelig før, ble nå nådd. I tillegg var mekaniseringen nå kommet i gang. M-SF

    Authors: Middborg, Jens Henry;

    Over the past decades digitalization has become more of interest in the corporate world, likewise in research and society. How does digitalization influence society and corporations, and does it have any competitive advantage? Several studies have been looking at how board of directors can play a more significant role in how their businesses are taking advantage of digitalization in an increased competitive market. The question mark is how digitalization influence the strategic perspective for businesses. The background and purpose of this study was to look at new ways in which Norwegian boards prioritize digitalization on the agenda in the boardroom, and if board of directors have the expertise and understanding of digitalizion to support their corporation preparing for a shift into the digitale age. At the same time, I also wanted to give some ideas and perspectives on how to board of directors can meet the increased competition by beeing more digital in their mindset. An anonymous survey aimed at a selection of Norwegian board members in listed corporations was the target group in the study. The results combined with theoretical papers, other business studies and my own experiences have been used in the thesis. The result shows that the role of the board today has a passive approach to digitalization. The role of the board has to change from a traditional and passive approach to a more dynamic approach. And the board of directors must play a more active role in the strategic management of the company where digitalization is integrated in the overall strategy. Furthermore, the results show that Norwegian board of directors do prioritize digitalization on the board agenda, but they are not involved in supporting day-to-day management, nor do they have enough expertise to contribute to the digital agenda. Gjennom de siste 10-årene har digitalisering fått mer fokus i næringslivet, men likefult blant forskning og samfunn. Hvordan påvirker digitalisering samfunnet og næringslivet, og har det en konkurransedrivende kraft? Flere studier har sett nærmere på hvordan bedriftsstyrer kan spille en mer aktiv rolle i hvordan selskaper kan posisjonere seg for økt konkurransekraft og endringstakt. Spørsmålet som flere har stilt er hvordan digitalisering påvirker det strategiske perspektivet for bedrifter. Bakgrunnen og hensikten med denne oppgaven var å se nærmere på hvordan norske styrer prioriterer digitalisering på agendaen i styrerommet, og om styremedlemmer har kompetanse og forståelse til å bidra til endringstakten i selskapene med digitalisering i sentrum. Samtidig ønsket jeg å gi noen ideer og forslag til hvordan de kan møte en økt konkurranse gjennom å sette digitalisering i fokus. En anonym undersøkelse rettet mot et utvalg av Norske styremedlemmer i børsnoterte selskaper har vært målgruppen i oppgaven. Resultatet sammensatt med teoretiske studier, andre næringslivsundersøkelser og mine egne erfaringer er blitt lagt til grunn i besvarelsen. Resultatet viser at styrets rolle i dag har en passiv tilnærming til digitalisering. Generelt bør styrets rolle endres fra en tradisjonell og passiv tilnærming til en mer dynamisk tilnærming. Norske styremedlemmer må spille en mer aktiv rolle i strategisk ledelse av selskapene der digitalisering er en sentral del av overordnet selskapsstrategi. Videre viser resultatet at Norske styremedlemmer har digitalisering på styreagendaen, men er ikke delaktige i å støtte daglig ledelse, og har heller ikke nok kompetanse til å bidra på den digitale agenda.     Authors: Hølland, Erlend Skullestad;

    Denne oppgaven har tatt for seg avløpsledningsnettet i Drammen kommune, i Buskerud fylke, og har sett på tiltak for å redusere mengden avløpsvann som går i overløp, og dermed urenset ut i resipienten. Dette ble gjort ved å modellere ledningsnettet og de foreslåtte tiltakene, og utføre simuleringer basert på meteorologiske måledata. Det ble tatt utgangspunkt i en modell utarbeidet av Rosim AS, der både Muusøya og Solumstrand rensedistrikt er med. Programvaren ROSIE og ArcGIS ble benyttet for bearbeidelse av modellen, og MOUSE ble brukt for å gjøre simuleringer. Oppgaven presenterer forslag til tiltak på ledningsnettet, og sammenlikner simuleringer av disse justerte modellene med den opprinnelige modellen. Det ble utarbeidet modeller som utnytter kapasiteten i eksisterende ledningsnett, ved å justere videreført volumstrøm fra en rekke overløp på Strømsø, i kombinasjon med styring av pumpene som fører avløpsvann fra Bragernes til Strømsø. Denne styringen sørget for at betydelige overløpsmengder først oppstod når ledningsnettet på nedre deler av Strømsø og Bragernes var fullt utnyttet begge steder. Disse modellene ble simulert av undertegnede for oktober 2014, som var den måneden med mest overløp i 2014. Videre presenterer oppgaven forslag til nye konstruksjoner på ledningsnettet der det i hovedtrekk er snakk om et fordrøyningsmagasin ved Landfalloverløpet i Muusøya rensedistrikt, og en pumpeledning mellom Bragernes i Solumstrand rensedistrikt og Muusøya som kan fordele vann mellom rensedistriktene. Det ble simulert med fordrøyningsmagasin i tre forskjellige størrelser, både som tiltak alene, og i kombinasjon med pumpeledningen. Det ble også utarbeidet en modell med denne nye pumpeledningen, uten fordrøyningsmagasin. Disse simuleringene ble utført for hele 2014. Målsetningen for oppgaven var at tiltakene skulle vise en reduksjon i totalt overløpsvolum i hele kommunen. Resultatrapporter for overløpsvolum for hver modell blir presentert, og disse viser at alle modellene gir en viss reduksjon i overløpsvolum. Som ventet gir det største fordrøyningsbassenget (20000 m3) størst effekt, med en reduksjon på over 15 % av overløpsutslippet for hele kommunen, for hele 2014 når det benyttes i kombinasjon med pumpeledningen. Resultatene for tiltakene på eksisterende ledningsnett viser at disse gir en reduksjon på 3,6 %, noe som er sammenliknbart med resultatene for oktober for et fordrøyningsbasseng på 5000 m3 ved Landfalloverløpet, i kombinasjon med ny pumpeledning. Resultatene fra denne oppgaven blir senere brukt videre for å utvikle en metode for å forutsi fremtidig volumstrøm og vannivå ved bruk av deep learning. This thesis has looked at the sewer network of the municipality of Drammen in Norway, and has investigated measures to reduce the amount of wastewater going into overflows, and into the recipient without treatment. This has been done by modelling the sewer network and the proposed measures, and performing simulations based on meteorological measurement data. The base model was a model developed by Rosim AS, which includes both Muusøya and Solumstrand wastewater districts. The software ROSIE and ArcGIS were used for making changes on the model, and MOUSE was used for simulations. The thesis delivers proposals for actions to be taken on the sewer system, and compares simulations of these adjusted models to the original model. Models exploiting the capacity of the existing network were developed, by adjusting the continuation flow-rate from a number of weirs in Strømsø, in combination with active control of the pumps that lead water from Bragernes to Strømsø. With these control measures weir overflow of significant amounts only occur when the sewer network capacity is filled in the lower parts of Strømsø and Bragernes at the same time. These models were simulated for October 2014, which was the month with the most overflow in 2014. Further, the thesis provides suggestions to new constructions in the network. In short this consists of an attenuation tank by the ”Landfall weir” in Muusøya wastewater district and/or a pumping line that distributes water between Bragernes in Solumstrand wastewater district and Muusøya. The attenuation tank was simulated with three different sizes, with and without the mentioned pumping line. Also, there was a model with the pumping line without an attenuation tank. These models were simulated for all of 2014. This thesis aims to show that the presented measures will give a reduction in the total overflow volume for the whole municipality. Result reports for overflow volume are presented, and these show that all the models give a certain reduction in overflow volume. As expected, the largest attenuation tank (20000 m3) in combination with the pumping line gave the best effect, with a reduction of more than 15 % of the weir overflow volume for the whole municipality, for the whole year. The results for the models using the existing sewer network show that these gave a reduction of 3,6 %, which is comparable to the results of October 2014 for an attenuation tank of 5000 m3 in combination with the new pumping line. The results from this thesis will be used later to develop a method to predict future flow and water level by the use of deep learning. M-VM

    Authors: Elvheim, Endré Werner;

    Dagens landbruk er preget av store og tunge jordbruksmaskiner som i kombinasjon med større mengder regn har ført til flere utfordringer. Et sentralt problem er komprimering av jorda, jordpakking, som blant annet fører til avlingstap og materielle ødeleggelser. Videre medfører det stadig våtere klimaet et kortere innhøstingsvindu, og det er derfor viktig at en får utnyttet innhøstingsvinduet så effektivt som mulig. En mulig løsning på problemet er derfor å satse på autonome lettvektsroboter som er i stand til å samhandle og utføre noen av de samme oppgavene som en traktor ute på jordet. Hovedmålet for oppgaven er at den eksisterende klippekonfigurasjonen av den autonome landbruksroboten Thorvald skal videreutvikles for å sikre en forbedret ytelse og funksjonalitet. Prosjektet begynte innledningsvis med en kartlegging av dagens innhøstingsmetoder og tilknyttet problematikk, samt den eksisterende løsningen. Det ble også utført en kort gjennomgang av relevant gressteori for videre produktspesifisering og design- avgjørelser. Videre er oppgaven delt i to deler: Den første delen tar for seg en generell litteraturstudie av vibrasjon, med fokus på demping og isolering i praksis på roboten Thorvald. Den andre delen kartlegger mulige designendringer for å redusere overkjøring og opphopning av gress, samt forbedring av knivbjelkens kutteevne i ulendt terreng. DEL I Diverse former for vibrasjon ble kartlagt og definert, med tilhørende generelle eksempler. Vibrasjonsforplantning i mekaniske systemer ble også gjennomgått. Det ble deretter presentert metoder for demping og isolering, før det ble foretatt vibrasjons-målinger på Thorvald. Hensikten er å benytte målingene i videre arbeid til å kunne dokumentere effekten av eventuelle demping, -og isoleringsstiltak. Slike tiltak blir avslutningsvis presentert. DEL II Designendringer på Thorvald for å redusere overkjøring og opphopning av gress, samt forbedre dagens klippeevne i ulendt terreng har blitt kartlagt, 3D-modellert og presentert. Designforslagene er utformet på en måte som tilrettelegger for enkel implementering i dagens design. Today’s agriculture is characterized by heavy machines and equipment, which in combination with increasing amounts of rain has led to several challenges. A major issue is soil compaction, which leads to crop losses and material damages, among other things. Furthermore, a wetter climate has resulted in a shorter harvest window, making it paramount to utilize it as efficiently as possible. A potential solution to the problem is the implementation of autonomous lightweight robots that can interact and perform some of the same tasks as the traditional tractor. The main objective of this report is to further develop the existing cutting configuration of the autonomous agricultural robot Thorvald to ensure improved performance and functionality. The project initially began with a survey of today’s harvesting methods and associated problems, as well as the existing solution. A brief documentation of relevant grass theory for future product specification and design decisions has also been carried out. The remaining report is divided into two parts: The first part deals with a basic theoretical study of vibration, focusing on damping and isolating vibration that propagates throughout the structure of the robot. The second part examines possible design changes to reduce grass accumulation, as well as to improve the cutter bars ability to cut evenly in uneven terrain. Part I Various types of vibration are mapped and defined, with associated general examples, before focusing on vibration propagation in mechanical systems. Possible ways of damping and isolating vibration are then reviewed before two vibration measurements are performed on Thorvald. The intention is to use the measurements in further work to document the effect of any dampening measures. This part concludes with such measures being presented. Part II Design changes to reduce grass accumulation on Thorvald, as well as to improve its cutting ability in uneven terrain are discussed, 3D-modeled and presented. The proposals are designed in a way that facilitates easy implementation in today’s design. M-MPP

M-SF

    Authors: Middborg, Jens Henry;

    Over the past decades digitalization has become more of interest in the corporate world, likewise in research and society. How does digitalization influence society and corporations, and does it have any competitive advantage? Several studies have been looking at how board of directors can play a more significant role in how their businesses are taking advantage of digitalization in an increased competitive market. The question mark is how digitalization influence the strategic perspective for businesses. The background and purpose of this study was to look at new ways in which Norwegian boards prioritize digitalization on the agenda in the boardroom, and if board of directors have the expertise and understanding of digitalizion to support their corporation preparing for a shift into the digitale age. At the same time, I also wanted to give some ideas and perspectives on how to board of directors can meet the increased competition by beeing more digital in their mindset. An anonymous survey aimed at a selection of Norwegian board members in listed corporations was the target group in the study. The results combined with theoretical papers, other business studies and my own experiences have been used in the thesis. The result shows that the role of the board today has a passive approach to digitalization. The role of the board has to change from a traditional and passive approach to a more dynamic approach. And the board of directors must play a more active role in the strategic management of the company where digitalization is integrated in the overall strategy. Furthermore, the results show that Norwegian board of directors do prioritize digitalization on the board agenda, but they are not involved in supporting day-to-day management, nor do they have enough expertise to contribute to the digital agenda. Gjennom de siste 10-årene har digitalisering fått mer fokus i næringslivet, men likefult blant forskning og samfunn. Hvordan påvirker digitalisering samfunnet og næringslivet, og har det en konkurransedrivende kraft? Flere studier har sett nærmere på hvordan bedriftsstyrer kan spille en mer aktiv rolle i hvordan selskaper kan posisjonere seg for økt konkurransekraft og endringstakt. Spørsmålet som flere har stilt er hvordan digitalisering påvirker det strategiske perspektivet for bedrifter. Bakgrunnen og hensikten med denne oppgaven var å se nærmere på hvordan norske styrer prioriterer digitalisering på agendaen i styrerommet, og om styremedlemmer har kompetanse og forståelse til å bidra til endringstakten i selskapene med digitalisering i sentrum. Samtidig ønsket jeg å gi noen ideer og forslag til hvordan de kan møte en økt konkurranse gjennom å sette digitalisering i fokus. En anonym undersøkelse rettet mot et utvalg av Norske styremedlemmer i børsnoterte selskaper har vært målgruppen i oppgaven. Resultatet sammensatt med teoretiske studier, andre næringslivsundersøkelser og mine egne erfaringer er blitt lagt til grunn i besvarelsen. Resultatet viser at styrets rolle i dag har en passiv tilnærming til digitalisering. Generelt bør styrets rolle endres fra en tradisjonell og passiv tilnærming til en mer dynamisk tilnærming. Norske styremedlemmer må spille en mer aktiv rolle i strategisk ledelse av selskapene der digitalisering er en sentral del av overordnet selskapsstrategi. Videre viser resultatet at Norske styremedlemmer har digitalisering på styreagendaen, men er ikke delaktige i å støtte daglig ledelse, og har heller ikke nok kompetanse til å bidra på den digitale agenda.     Authors: Hølland, Erlend Skullestad;

M-VM

    Authors: Elvheim, Endré Werner;

M-MPP
